CATS Comic? Author PleaseOnce again I have a mind to attempt a jellicle-orientated comic, and I'm looking for an author who wants to collaborate.My art style is unique. Angular, but with perfect flow. It cannot be accurately mimmicked (so far as I know). You might think it isn't as good as some of the other artists out there; If you think that, it's because you haven't given me enough of a chance. If you have an idea, any idea, and you want to see it brought to life in a style and a medium that isn't often a part of the Cats fandom, then please let me know. I work fast, and I have experience turning scripts into comics. (If you want proof, I have pages from my miniseries "ZombieBoy" that I can send you.) Give it a whirl. You'll love the results. Please? |

Oh come on!
Surey you people aren't that lazy! What is the world coming to when someone pretty much offers to draw unlimited images of your favourite characters and you all just yawn and walk away? |

The comic sounds really interesting. Unfortunately, I'm already trying to write another fic to supplement "The Jellicle Emergence" fic/rpg. And I don't have time to take on another project. Course, if you want to try and 'comicize' (I know...that's not a real word), the fantas-style fic I just finished "The Jellicle Emergence: Origins" you can. Course, it also has humans/giants in it....not just Jellicles (cat-humans). http://www.msjellicle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=108 ~MsJ |

I'd love to see you try my fic!

I like the word through when it's spelt as it was intended to be... I couldn't get through much of it. That word was bothering me. |

There already is several Cat's inspired comics.
THe one that comes to most peoples minds is this one. http://www.2wconline.net/newwinter_current.html New "from the New London theater" and Winter "from winter Garden theater" a mixture of Broadway and London inspiration set in another world entirely. With nationally & Internationally published artist Jen Starling as an artist, and Internationally published Renee, as an author...it kinda is hard to compete with. |

I sincerely hope that was a comment on how good New Winter is and not how utterly crap I am.
Very well. I bow out. Obviously I cannot compete with such sterling competition. There's no room for new editions out there - nobody cares enough to want to try anything new anymore. Not surprising, I suppose. But a bit disappointing to think that I'm being shot down because everyone thinks my art sucks ass and has no chance of reaching any kind of small acclaim even within a small corner of the fandom... Y'know, as compared to that other, more wonderful comic. I'd like to say something very insulting here, but it would only get deleted. But thanks again for being so helpful. |

hey, look i'll give it a try - although im better at art than I am at writing, and im in the middle of exams at the mo, so i could be quite busy - but hey it could be fun! Why not give it try? I might need help with plots though. Im a good writer when I've actually got the plot set in my mind!

I appreciate New Winter very much, but I don't see any reason why OTHER Cats inspired comics shouldn't exist. The more difficult thing IMO is to have a team (writer + artist) that work well together.
Actually, a few years ago I had written down a couple of short comics scripts about Cats, but at the moment I don't even have time to breath, so I for first couldn't work properly with any artist now (scripts often need to be re-worked when they actually become comics panels). You'd probably get more responses if you posted some samples of your artwork and weren't so abrupt with people.
I'd be interested to see your comic if you ever produce it, but I'm an artist, not a writer. |

Bealzabub? Well... that's my user name on almost every other forum. It's my jellicle alter ego. |

Flitterbug, this probably isn't the best place to get Cats writers. I've mentioned before that this board seems to be made of older people who used to be big fans but now stick around for reasons other than the musical, and younger people(in the 12-17 range) who have only recently discovered the musical and tend to move on to another obsession/fandom after a couple months. I don't have a better place to suggest, unfortunately--I'm one of those who sticks around for other reasons, and I don't have any real ties to the Cats community anymore.
However, I'd love to see you create a comic based on Cats. I really wish I were the sort of person you could depend on for authorship, but my muse is manic-depressive(and tends to stay on the depressive side these days), and I couldn't really guarantee any sort of loyalty to the project, not with my interest in Cats waning and so many other demands on my time. If you do find a partner, I'd love to see what the comic looks like. No one is criticizing your artwork--and personally I think there's room for the sort of comic you'd create. There's nothing wrong with New Winter's style, but it's completely not my thing and I've never been particularly interested. Please don't give up just 'cause we're a bunch of lazy apathetic bums. EDIT: Vice, she meant the word "through." Your spelling is rather informal and slang-ey. I don't know about Flitterbug, but spelling it "thru" makes me think of "drive-thru." |

Abrupt is who I am, fair lady. *bows* Mostly people either get used to it or decide to dislike me. Unfortunately, since I dont post on this forum as often as I do other places, you dont have as much of a chance to get used to me. I'd rather be abrupt and honest than polite and fake. |
||||
| Vice |
I did that? *goes and checks* Oh. Oops... I need to fix that... (I so need a beta...) I really try not to do that though. |
||||
| Belle |
Why does good manners require being fake? drivelling sycophantism is not required, but respecting fellow humans is always appreciated. Honest =/= abrupt, and fake =/= polite. It is perfectly possible to be polite AND honest in most circumstances. Try it. |
||||
| Moongewl |
Yes, you can be polite to someone without being fake, but I doubt Flitterbug wants to have to be on her best behavior with a partner all the time. If she were willing to be polite/formal, she would've acted that way, but it seems to me that Flitterbug's not the type to put on manners apart from those she affords everyone, you know?
| ultra_lilac |
*laugh* At least you're consistent. You seem like an interesting person, abrupt or otherwise and I hope the comic thing works out. |
||||
| Flitterbug |
There's a difference between being polite for the sake of it and being polite because you mean it. (I also notice that it's those who are rather sycophantic who move upwards in the social scale, despite it not being a requirement.) Moongewl is right, I'm afraid. I offer my opinions indiscriminately, as I do with the manner I present them in. *sigh* Just dont assume that I'm being difficult for the sake of it. If I were doing that, this probably would have turned nasty by now. May we discuss something else please? Y'know - like what this thread was actually intended for? Either that or just leave it alone. We've already established that the idea was a stupid one, I dont need my nose rubbed in that fact that people think I'm rude, too.[/quote] |
