LOVE those troussers haha!

Sweet! I really like the idea. I think the whole outfit together might be a bit much, but each piece on its own is very cool. I could see wearing the pants with the tank top. The jacket would look great with a pair of jeans.

Yeah, I was thinking that the pieces seperately would be best; but all thrown together could make a cool costume.
I mean, you don't have to wear a unitard to dress like the characters

Very nice! I would add sleeves, but those are brilliant designs. Be pretty good for a fan who didnt want to, or possibly couldnt, wear a costume or makeup etc to show their interest/fanaticism in Cats, esp. if they were only wearing one or two pieces.
Brilliant idea! You should try out dying some stuff to see if it will work. If you do, let us know the results!

Really great idea Jemibub. I love the pants for Tugger and I like the whole Demeter design especially the pants...I like all the pants in general...I'd most likely put them with a black cats tank or shirt but I think it is a very very cool idea...look it's a whole new fashion line

years ago, Jouley had something similar, she wore a white tank top painted with Bombalurina markings with red and black tiger stripe jeans. Plus a tail.

hah! The Jennyanydots one is awesome.
If this is something you would wear casually it's best not to over do it with one design. Mostly about balance. So, if you have a really bold design a solid color helps balance it out.

I think the only time a full outfit would be put together would be for a more-humaniod costume

I'd wear the Bombalurina Pants around. I can tottally imagine people going. "Oh look, red and black pants. -continues on way- Wait, what? -doubletake-"

I would definetely wear Cassandra or Victoria's... the rest I find them too flashy or ellaborate to wear them on the street. Probably Bombalurina's or Demeter's at night they'd look nice. I have a very classical style...hehehe

I'd wear the Bom print pants. Tiger striped stuff is usually 'in' anyway. Besides, I have an outfit that's black snakeskin print (the fabric on both pants and shirt is nylon) and I wear it out all the time.

I was looking over all the designs again and Jemibub you are entirely too creative I just remembered though looking at your Cassandra design that I think I actually have a pair of pants that are very close to that already And I must say I like the look of the Tant and jemima outfits as well..lookin sharp!

Lol, thanks. I like flashy; not to flashy, but flashy enough for people to notice you. I always got weird looks when I wore my alonzo tail to school; hell, I loved it. I was proud.
Next thing I know ... mass produced at all clothing stores and on sale at souvenir stands
running out of characters ... might have to start on custome characters lol

Griddlebone's is so cute!! And Grizabella's is very well-done, if she was a human, that's what I'd imagine her wearing. (Love her pants!!)
Ooh, and Jemima's is really cute too! Can I steal it? (Jk...but it really is adorable!) Great job!

Market them. I'd totally buy the Rumpleteazer set. I think longer sleeves would be better on some characters though, such as Macavity and Quaxo. Just a thought. Seriously though, I'd buy them if you sold them, as long as you didn't price them outragously. Or you could always sell the idea to someone else. And *ahem* me thinks a London Alonzo set would be nice *ahem*.

I'd buy one. I'm the sort of fan who doesnt want to make costumes, or try out make up, or be obvious about being a fan. (and i mean no disrespect or offence to anyone who does.) So, for me, this would be perfect. Its not so 'in your face', but it holds a lot in being a Cats design, which would really work. Plus it might be a good souveneer, for those who dont want to wear a simple black shirt with two eyes on the back/front. Its destinctive, and its beautiful. With those beautiful designs, anyone would want to wear them anyway.
you should really think about having a go with some fabric dyes and some old cloaths. Have a look on the costuming board if you need any help. It would be brilliant to see a picture of a real prototype!

If I were to market them I'd probably have to send the designs to ALW or Cameron Mackintosh; don't want to get sued lol.
PRICES:
(going by what souvenier stands usually sell at)
I can see the shirts being priced at $20
Jackets (if a cat has one) at $25
Pants at $30
Souveneir stands usually jack up the prices anyway. I bought the Grimmerie at a wicked souvenier stand; they stuck a $50 sticker over a sticker that said $40 ... *curses*
AT STORES:
I can see the shirts being priced at $15
Jackets (if a cat has one) at $20
Pants at $25

Watch Out PleaseNot to really throw a damp rag on this, but please consider COPYRIGHT!
Even though YOU are making the clothes, you are using costume design markings and the CATS trademark... If you "sell" them, you can only recover your costs... NO PROFIT!!! If you profit by this, Really Useful Group and everyone connected will take a close look at you...
This applies in my part of fandom - fanfiction - as well. My stories may be my own creation, but I use the show's characters. Because of that, I fall under RUG copyright laws. If I were to attempt to publish the stories, I could only recover my printing/mailing costs only. I would have to lose or break even. Profit, and I run afoul of their Copyright...
Just a warning on "prices"...

lol, I know about copyright ... that's why I plan to send the designs to RUG/Mackintosh/ALW first.

First off, CUTE!!! Jemibub those are wonderful! Very imaginative and creative, it really shows a lot of inishiative for a young person to think outside the box like that and do some something so, IDK, but it goes beyond the relm of just costumeing and actually brings costuming to a whole new level. Congradulations! I could easily see those used for a dinner theater or school type production.
I echo everyone regarding the sleeves only not just long sleeve so they can be worn in cooler weather but short and 3/4 ones as well. Also speaking for the plus size ladies I'd ask for a larger version as well.
The copyrights, yea it could get sticky but before you send them off make sure you and your parents (sorry IDK how old you are) see a lawyer so that you are protected in the long run.
They may like your ideas and turn you down then turn around and do their own versions and you'd be out of the loop b/c you weren't protected and in the mean time I'd love to see some pictures of prototypes as well.
Character wise you could almost take the show song by song starting with a Gumbie Cat coat, how bout the mice or Beetles, the pirates, the Siamese CATS, the Peeks & the Pollicles, Rumpus Cat, Victor, Billy McCaw.
You could also try looking at costuming from different countries and/or school and dinner theater productions and fan art.
Hope that helps.

How creative!
I really think that it would be a great concept for fans who want to make a costume but don't have the means. They can just take an old tank top and pants and paint them with some acrylics!
I'd love to see someone make one of these
