CATS auditions in December.

Hola, I have "Cats" auditions in December, as I'm sure you can see by my subject name, but I was just curious about a few things...

Are there any parts for females who aren't necasarilly dancers--other than Griz and Jellylorum (sp?) ???

AND...

Has anyone ever seen the show done with someone singing as a particular character onstage, but having someone dance behind them?

Thanks! Very Happy

Re: CATS auditions in December.

Is it a regional or amateur production? Many of them relax the choreography quite a bit.

It's an amateur production. Just high school. But our director often times like to go "all out." But nonetheless, it is high school. hah

Unless you're at an arts high school with a ballet or modern jazz program, then most or all of the other parts should theoretically be mostly singing.
Roller Boy

Very Happy

Mungojerry and Rumpleteaser used to be puppets!

Jellylorum has to dance sweetums... I did Cats last year in high school (we also go "all out"). Jellylorum has to dance in the "Trio" (Bomba, Jelly and Demeter) during Gumbie Cat (tap dance also) and we (I was Bomba) also has a dance part in Bustopher Jones instead of just sitting and singing. And if your school likes to go "all out" like ours, no matter who you are (except Griz of couse) you will be dancing your butt off during Jellicle Songs and The Jellicle Ball.

Griz usally dances during Jellicle Songs in her chorus costume.

we're doing CATS too and our choreographer is trying to make it as "modern" as she can. she told us "if its anything like the broadway/video, we're not doing it." and the dance numbers seem a lot harder than the video too.

if you want a character that doesn't dance "as much" just look at some of the kittens. they dance but mostly in big numbers. =) (is that right? x_x)

Yeah I know Griz usually dances during Jellicle Songs but ours didn't. She made a really strong appearence at the beginning and then left. Her makeup took to long to do then change... haha so our director and team changed it.

I wish I could be in cats. If there were an audition anywhere nearby, I would pounce at the opportunity. My favorite character is Mistoffelees, or maybe the Rum tum tugger Very Happy

Same here!
My name should tell you which character I'd audition for!
Flitterbug

A chorus cat who looks eerily like Jemima?
Quaxo!

I am eerie. I could sing that part of the song. Exact same notes, too. By the way, can anyone else see my picture? My computer won't show it. Mad

The picture does not show at the moment...

The avatar is placed in the Profile section, while banners go in the Signature section of the Profile. For them to show, you must place the pictures in a website like Photobucket that can be accessed by MdN. My pictures, for example, are on a website server.

To show the pictures in the body of a thread, use the IMG and URL tags. If you 'point' at them with the mouse cursor, they will demonstrate how to find the address of the picture. IF you are HTML savvy, the IMG tag is the <img src=> while the URL tag is the <A href=>

One more thing... If the picture STILL does not show, carefully check the Address SPELLING... I cannot say how many times I have done this and found that I did not splle... spill... spell the address correctly... Cool

PM me if you need help, and I will attempt to do so...
