Anime cats!! Yay!! So very cute! Neko people are my favourite anime to draw. ^-^ Guess why. Wink I think it'd work with anime, but not cartoons.

Anime are cartoons. In Japan they call American cartoons anime.
Nemi

In America there's a huge distinction between regular cartoons and Anime.

And I might die if Erikonil does try something like that in Flash. Actually, I probably would die. Death by shock of awesomeness.
Erikonil

That's right baby! Cool

Sersiously though, I'm still in the 'take an image into Photshop and cut it up' portion of FLASH talent. I do want to learn how to do the reeeeeeally nice animation eventaully.
Filakatessa

hmm, methinks it can be done!

I'd love to see this if it does transpire...if not the whole thing, then even just a scene Smile

Very Happy

And American comics are called Manga, and Graphic Novels Tankuban..yet comic stores here still feel the need to differenciate.

It's because americans are by nature Narcasistic. If it don't come from us, It don't get the same name. Sad really because Japanese cartoon style was actually inspired by American animation. It is actually proven that a certain cartoon involving a black haired beauty and seven little men inspired the whole thing.

and now you know, and learning is half the battle.

YO~JO!!! Wink

If you do that Erikonil, you should have some of your New Winter characters make a cameo.

Hmm... I always felt they called it Anime, Manga, and Graphic Novels so they could get away from the stereotypes that Cartoon and Comic have attached to them. 'Cartoon' I feel describes things created for younger audiences (like Disney films), versus Anime (which in addition describing some 'childrens' work) tends to be for a more adult audience. I'd call Pokemon a cartoon, and Gundam Wing an anime. Same with Comic vs. Manga, a comic brings to my mind images of twelve year old boys reading the latest Batman comic, Manga just seems more mature...

It's all quite silly actually, for a comic by any other name, is still the same thing!

Wink

I will also be THE costume judge for Hall costumes at Katsucon this year.
so SEW well little pattawan.

Oh for all NON Otaku...
Here is the defination Provided By Web Dictionary:
This word can have a very negative meaning depending on the context in which it is used. In Japanese society its usage is widely understood to mean someone who is an anti-social maniac. But in the International anime community the word has evolved into a slang reference meaning obsessed fan. Serious devotees of anime and manga call themselves otaku.

That is an awesome idea, I often think of it. I tend to draw lots of Cats cartoons. Only, how would you see it? Animations of human-looking cats in costume, or cartoon kittens that are based on the musical?

I would definately go for human-looking cats, like anthro art, if the movie was to be made in anime style. BUT I would prefer to have real kitten cartoons in say, a Disney movie. As long as it is in 2d!

I hope we get the animated movie, some day.
