cat in the hat in seussical!i got casted as the cat in the hat. i have some questions:
- does the cat 'fly' on a harness, when he plays the helicopter news caster in 'chasing the who's'?
- does the cat go off without a shirt in 'mayzie' in palm beach?
i know these choices aren't the same for every show, but based on the show you guys have done, what did you do?

In our show, no he wasn't on a harness. He was on a platform walking around sorta like a durnk? Hard to explain.
Also, in our show, Yes, in that scene he ws wearing Swimshortsa and sandals.

No harness I don't think. Apparently he's supposed to be spinning his umbrella like helicopter blades, ours just used a microphone. Though I think in the OBC, they had the cat on a harness at the end of Act 1 with the "How Lucky You Are" reprise, as they're singing about how lucky they are and then the cat starts swinging around the stage on the harness uncontrollably.
I'm not sure if the cat has his shirt off, probably not if he's miced. Probably a white shirt, swimsuit, sandals, and sunglasses.

For the news broadcast, we just had our Cat make a recording of his voice and they did modified on a computer and added helicopter sounds. I don't think our Cat was even onstage for that line. They just played the recording over the speakers.
And he didn't take off his shirt for the Mayzie scene.
Congratulations! Seussical was one of the most fun shows I've ever done. In fact, opening night was one year ago tonight. I really miss it a lot.

In the production that I saw, they just recorded his voice and had a little cardboard helicopter fly onstage. Not very high-tech, but it worked fine.
Good luck! Before I die, I plan on being in Seussical. It's my favourite musical of all time!!! I'm such a loser. *shakes his head*
