Casts of OBC vs MovieDoes anyone know why the original Joanne and Mimi didn't come back to do the movie? |

Daphne was pregnant at the time of filming, and Fredi felt that she was too old.

I wish they'd have been in it. I dont know how far along Daphne was, but she's still the best Mimi. And Fredi has much more of a voice than Tracy. It's like all the feeling was lost in the film versions of the songs... |

Are you kidding? I love Fredi but Tracie has just as good of a voice. Plus, Fredi is just too old now for a movie version. I really do love Fredi and I love my OBC recording more than the movie soundtrack, but give props where props is due. |

Okay, lemme rephrase that. Tracy has a superb voice - loved her solo in SOL. But, for me, she was too high for Take Me Or Leave Me and didnt have as much feeling as Fredi. This is also just my own opinion. We all have our own. |

I kinda have to agree with this. After your first post, I was thinking that same thing as DramaRobin--"What?? Tracie has an amazing voice!" and I thought she did a fine job as Joanne. The only thing I didn't like about her performance was the way she went into a bunch of crazy unnecessary runs in "Take Me or Leave Me." I just didn't understand it. And I guess I can see what you mean by her not having as much feeling in her voice, but that's really just a matter of opinion and personal preference. Same as my personal preference that Joanne be played by a big black woman, but you'll have that.

I think Tracy is better than Fredi. I think she has just as much feeling as her and I love her performance in Take me or Leave Me. As for SOL, well, lets just say Tracy is amazing. | ||

I love the OBC to me it was better then the movie. The movie was good but I just didn't like it that much. | ||

I think tracie's runs in TMOLM were really good. I think that it helped make the song feel more like a fight when each woman had her separate run. In the OBC it felt like Idina was like killing Fredi with all her stuff and in the movie version Tracie and Idina seemed a better match. | ||

Has Daphnie or Fredi publicly stated whether they liked the film?
Just curious. It may be an unfair question. I thought Tracry and Roz were great. I do prefer a little more rasp in Mimi's voice, thoiugh... but that's neither her or there. Andy. |

Have I mentioned that I love Daphne? That was such a gracious reply. Anyway, I think she proved she still had it at Rent 10 .

I think she and Fredi both proved that still had it in RENT10. Also, i dont think Fredi looked too old in that or in the documentary on the film's dvd. Oh well, the film has been made, so be it. At least most of the OBC was in it. |

Yeah, that's an excellent point. I was disappointed that Daphne and Fredi weren't in the movie, but I was still really grateful that (to some extent) I got to see the original cast performing the roles. Otherwise, I never would have had any opportunity like that.
