I just found out I got cast as Sky in my school's production.

Any hints and suggestions are welcome, as I don't know this show super well (I've seen it performed once, that's about it). Are there any nuances in Sky that are performed better one way or another?

My main question is about accent. Can Sky be played without a New York accent? If the director really wants one, I imagine I can do it, but I'm just afraid that I'm just going to sound fake the whole time.

I think you should just stick to a slight "gangster accent". You don't want Sky to be a cartoon character.
