Cassidy JansonI went to see Wicked yesterday, and had the front row seats and I found out Kerry Ellis wasn't playing the role, it was Cassidy Janson, and didn't really know what to expect, and to my suprise, she was very very good. She had a similar vocal ability as Idina Menzel, obviously not Idina style, but she was very good, I'd like to see her take over the role after Kerry!
Also I noticed, as she wasnt that well known the reaction from the croud wasn't as good as it was with Idina and also the reaction with kerry ellis.
Also the london shows don't seem to be as funny as the american, I've just watched a video of Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty and the audiance laugh alot more than they do in the london shows.
Although I have to say I feel that Helen Dallimore is perfect for the role of Glinda, shes got the voice, and deffinatly the humour to play the role!
Overall I was impressed, even though adam garcia gave a flat note!

i saw cassidy on wednesday she replaced kerry half way through the show, i thought she was fantastic

CassidyI was there on the wednesday too.
Kerry lost her voice in Defying Gravity and Cassidy took over in the interval. Cassidy was amazing!

oooh no, thats a shame, you'd think it would have been the standby, how did kerry pull off defying gravity with her larigintous?

The new Standby's not ready yet - because Kerry went from Standby to first cast, they brought in Shona White as the new Stnadby - only she's not fully rehearsed yet, or even got her costumes, apparently! So Cassidy, as the understudy in the ensemble, is going on all the time. If anything happens to Cassidy, they've run out of Elphabas!!!

Kerry's been getting ill a lot lately! I hope she's on top form when I see her next month!

I don't think Kerrys bodys got used to the fact that shes got to do 8 shows a week!
I think an idea for the first month should have been kerry does 4, cassidy does 4, then kerry does 6, and cassidy does the matinees, then kerry starts all. And they fill in for each other as a standby.
I think they need to get shona sorted asap, just incase god forbid something happends to cassidy.
I was very impressed with Cassidy I must see!

Not as big, but she had some tough and powerful songs in both shows, both requiring belt. I mean you can hear in her voice that its all very easy for her to do, its no challenge for her, hence me thinking she's probably just caught this flu that's been going round, even Kylie got it!

all i can say is that ive seen idina kerry and cassidy now and i def think that cassidy isup there with the other 2. She was so incredible tht iwent back to see her do it again t6he next day. I think that she should be 1st standby as aposed to Shona.

Im also in for saying that Cassidy is very good. Ive seen Idina, Kerry and Cassidy.
The difference between Kerry and Cassidy is I feel (and this is only my opinion so dont shout at me) that Cassidy and Helen harmonise a lot better and also Cassidy and Adam's onscreen connection is a lot stronger.

That's interesting though - having only heard two Glindas (Cheno on the album and Helen in theatre) I preferred Helen mainly because she blended her voice better with Idina's and I think they sang together well, whereas with Cheno she always seemed to be in competition.
Maybe Helen's the magic ingredient in all of this? I'd like to think that the two leads voices working well together would be considered in the casting process, but I know it isn't.

YouTube "Megan Hilty" ... I love her Glinda, she's the best one in my opinion. Kate Reinders was pretty cool too, but made her Glinda completely insane!

CJ is fabulous. She definately gets my vote.
Its a real shame she wont get to do the part very much now Shona is fully trained up.
