Well, I guess I have to tell great story. Last night Carol Burnett spoke at our local university. In the audience was the girl who played Fred in our local Jr. High production of OUAM. The girl asked Carol if she would sing "Shy", letting Carol know that she had just performed the role. Carol said that she would do it only if our "Fred" would come on stage and do it with her. So she did, and they sang it together.

I think it is a great testimonial to this wonderful actress that she would do this for a young girl who is just starting out. What a classy lady she is.

Holy crap. Carol Burnett is my ultimate hero. If that happened to me, I would pee my pants. Most definitely. I think that lady is one of the most talented women of all time. She can say ANYthing and make it funny. That's a true gift.

Wow, what a great story. That girl will remember that forever, no doubt. What a lucky kid! And what an amazing lady!

My understanding (based on a conversation with "Fred's" mom) is that footage of this encounter will be a part of the PBS special on Carol that will be aired on November 5th. This part of the PBS American masters series. Even if the footage winds up on the cutting room floor it should be a good show.

like someone said above me, I would've peed myself. I played Fred at my high school, and became obsessed with Carol Burnett. If that had happened to me, I would've just died right there.

I doubt that she would have minded if the parody hadn't been set in a porn shop. Carol was always a family values kind of person.
