Carefully Taught must be forcefully sung

Do you know why William Tabbert's rendering of this song on the OBC is not as forceful as it could be? If this song is some kind of an outburst it should hit us hard. It does hit us hard in the film soundtrack version, as well as the Reba McEntire version, to name but two, and I know it hits me hard when I listen to the 2002 London revival. However, when I listen to the OBCR, I find that it does not sing as much as it's meant to. Even the orchestra is so tame, and not as pulsating as it did on the film soundtrack.

Please don't think I'm putting down the song, but I'm asking this question about the renditions of the song that make it sound so flat and tame.

I haven't heard many versions of it but it the Kauai production, I thought he did a very good job with it... specifically for that reason...
You could sense the anger behind it which I really think is important.
I hope to do a better job singing the other Emille songs and hope I can do as well with this one...
