Hmmm...When I auditioned for Candide I used Glitter and be Gay but if your going for Paquette....Look into "The Finer Things" from Jane Eyre the Musical. Yes your thinking "Jane Eyre? no comedy" Well you are right its a sad boring depressing show HOWEVER that is one of Blanche's songs its got some pretty funny lines in it including in the end "The very finest thing is.....ME!" However the problem with that is its not really in mezzo range. However when you say mezzo in regards to Candide you mean like legit mezzo not "mezzo belter"?? I remember Paquette being pretty high... The song may be slightly higher than you want it but if you CAN go higher they will know you can go lower. CHeck it out.
