CAN YOU HELP ME

i'm making a script of this, but everything is going wrong.
P.S.
i'm doing it for HAFC.

these two girls (first of all)
tore up my OLCR lyrics book,(they thought it was ridiculous and annoying)

2nd i live in houston,
so i can't see the show.

i just wanna ask something:
are the OLCR lyrics as same as the broadway production lyrics?
wicked_boy

Why are you writing a script?
mr.musical9

because in the future, HFAC, will have junior script writers, and i would love to see mary poppins on stage, and me as bert

You do realise that writing any sort of adaption of any musical is illegal?

Not necessarily. You just need permission from whoever holds the rights. I'm still not sure what he's asking though...

Someone (HAFC? --> http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=hafc&meta= wants you to write a jr version.
Your friends (?) tore up your lyric book.
So now you can't do it.
If this company (assuming it's not any of the financial companies on the google page) really wants you to write this, then wouldn't they give you some sort of resources?

Seems really odd to me.

I thought they wanted to write some musical of MP that they are just making up. It doesn't sound like they've got permission if they're just using the OLCR booklet.

HFAC stands for houston family arts center
musikal_geek

Okay...
So they want you to write a musical, but they're not giving you any resources?

I've never heard of this company before, but are you sure this is legal? Taking a Broadway show and writing your own Jr version?
wicked_boy

It isn't legal by the sounds of it.
musikal_geek

Ah, well.
What can ya do.
wicked_boy

This has been a very good analysis (sp?) of a new member, hasn't it Luc?

Okay, here's what's up.

You, mr.musical9, are doing something very illegal, whether you know it or not. And just because you haven't gotten caught yet doesn't make it right. You are not allowed to just put on a musical of someone else's work, even if you "tweak" it, without permission from the people who's property it is (the authors).

I highly suggest you look at actually licensing a show. Musical Theatre International (www.mtishows.com) has a plethora of shows, AND a whole Junior section (http://www.broadwayjr.com/default_HOME.asp). If you don't pay and get permission to use someone's elses work, you are committing a crime.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

At least we got that one sorted.
