Can we ID this theater?Edit: okay, the darn Putfile doesn't seem to want to play nicely, so here are a few screenshots. Can anyone tell if this is the New London or Winter Garden theater?Sorry they're a bit fuzzy; my computer screen plays DVDs that way. Image 1 Image 2 Image 3 Image 4 |

it looks to me like the Broadway set, but I only get to see about a second and a half of it, so it's really rather impossible for me to tell. Could you try uploading it to another site that may work a little better?

The Winter Garden set had seats on the stage.
The roundness of the set makes me think New London, but it's very difficult to say. |

I tried YouTube, but oddly it only uploaded audio, not video. ??? I'll have to try to figure it out when I get home tonight.

I think this is the Winter Garden.

ok, the red thing stage right beside the tyre makes me think it's the Winter Garden. Howerver, the original Broadway stage said "Trailways" up and stage right of the tiger's head, and I dont' see that on this set. Doesn't mean it's not there, and it's always possible that in 20 years the floor had to be redone.
If you can get a relatively clear shot of a costume, that might be an easier way to figure it out, as London and Broadway costumes are very distinctive. |

It's not Broadway, then. The tiger on Broadway had its mouth open. There were also no words to the right of the tiger, but a "Winston" image a bit further up to the right.
The set has a closed mouth tiger, like the Hamburg set:

Here are some screenshots...I'll get more from later on in the show tomorrow afternoon if needed! Again, I apologize for the quality. It's about 70-75% on a TV and around 60% on a computer.

Based on the Gumbie trio and Mungo and Rumple, I'm gonna go with London.
Carb: The original Broadway pics I have show that there is writing up stage right (left as you look at the picture) of the tiger. I can upload an example if you'd like. |

Note: Mungo and Rumple sing the jazz version here.
Note 2: I swear most have rope tails. Did B/W ever have rope tails? More photos to come tomorrow. I love when we have these kind of discussions. |

Looking forward to more pics! Wasn't OLC the only cast that did the jazz version of M&R? That Jellylorum really looks like a London cat to me...

If it's in English and got the jazz version, it's London pre-1995, UK Tour, or Euro Tour. I'd seen something quite a while back with the same quality -- it's likely UK tour. |

I'm pretty sure it's London. I would even go so far as to saying that Demeter looks like Michele Hooper but again, Im not sure.I shall have a closer look but it seems between 1990-1995 but I'm fairly sure its not 94 cast.Hmm.... Could be Screen caps from Guy Pauls run in 92?(only as the angle of the shot is the same) hmmm *squints at screen*
Lady J, have you got the full vid? If so, can you tell me if they sing different words to Macavity? Are there two Gumbies in the tap number? I love a challenge!!!!! |

I'd say an early 90s London.... that Munkustrap costume really reminds me someone... too bad I haven't by cats brochure here.

Thanks for the input, guys! Misto says it's either April 1992 or January 1993 London. He's going to double-check soon, and I'll let you know the verdict. |
