Callbacks Today, Dead Voice

So, I have callbacks for The Diary of Anne Frank tonight at 6:00, and my voice is 100% gone...there is no singing involved, but I do have to read some scenes. Anyone have any ideas? I figured that I just wont talk today, and blast my voice out tonight, but I don't think thats the best thing to do.
Bianca.

well.. all of the regular stuff.

hot tea with honey..
gargle with salt water..
cough drops with menthol(in moderation)..
steam yourself..

and DO NOT whisper.
that's harder on your vocal chords than talking.
Support from your diaphragm and muster up as much sound as you safely can.

Honestly, I'd suggest putting off everything else you've got to do today, and just sleeping until your callback.

seeing as it is a callback, you're a little better off than if it were an initial audition, because they've already seen that you can infact read well, and don't normally sound like a frog with emphysema, and are going to concentrate more on your character. Don't let your acting suffer because you're worried about your voice.

Hope I could help!
Goodluck, and let us know how it goes!

make sure you hydrate and don't walk in the room w/ your voice totally cold. start normal conversation about 1 hr before but NO LAUghing

Oh my...I swear if I hear that again I will die. I have allergies and some people are telling me to take it...it don't work with allergies, it works with colds...

For allergies...go to a healthfood store/online (for the future) and get a Neti Pot. It is really strange, but it works...You run lukewarm water into the pot, then add 1/4 teaspoon of regular table salt and mix it in. Then, tilt your head to the side and run the water through your nose...It's strange, but it helps your voice/breathing/etc. because it cleans out all the stuff that is irritating your vocal chords.

ALSO...I have to disagree with whoever said use coughdrops with menthol...I would say don't do it AT ALL! Sorry...but I have been through voice therapy and they say that one of the worst things you can do is to take something that is mentholated because you can't feel what you're really doing to your throat, so you may be singing improperly or dangerously...I would personally use Halls Fruit Breezers OR Hard Candy OR Slippery Elm OR Fisherman's Friend.

Throat Coat Tea also works well if you have a sore throat. It's disgusting, but I swear by it!

ALSO...Steam your voice! Either take a 15 minute shower with the water as hot as you can stand it OR invest in a personal Kaz Therasteamer, which I recommend. Steam for about 15 minutes...

Most importantly DRINK A LOT OF WATER! Especially if you have allergies, that is best.

You know what? I made a literal voice emergency "Kit" for my little sister for Christmas last year! LOL!

I HAVE SO MANY MORE REMEDIES FOR EVERYTHING! LOL!

It was literally a toolbox that I bought and FILLED with stuff! If I get bored enough at work today, I will list all the items...but it was everything from a Neti Pot to Tussin to a Kaz Therasteam...

SHE LOVED IT! Smile
