Call back in The MorningJust saw a production LSOH and they didnt even sing Call Back in The Morning, they chanted it. Do you think this is a good idea or horrible, (Like Me)? I personally didnt like itcuz it sounded to robotic and made the music and the bandsound like they were doing something wrong, i say just stick to the Song and no Chanting , please.

OUR PRODUCTION IS DOING THAT RIGHT NOW AND I HATE IT!!!! Our music director hates the song. and this music director is awsome, but I think it's a bad call. If you don't have it as a song, don't chant it! Either cut the scene or don't make it ryhme!

I like Call Back in the Morning actually; it was Closed for Renovation that drove our cast and MD nuts!!! I won't get into it too much, but there was one night when Seymour forgot the words and started making up new words and eventually threw us off. It was hilarious, but actually totally not funny! lol!

We cut the song when I did it in high school. It didn't disrupt the flow of the show or anything. Our vocal director had played Seymour in high school and loathed that song and told us he wouldn't but his students through the torture of it. I got to see a video of him... and I really didn't like it. But I agree- Sing it or cut it. NO chanting!
Closed for Renovation drove me bonkers, too! Mostly because our Mushnick was not the best singer and could never sing his part before the "On paid in full and CODs" part, so I could never find my note. Drove me NUTS!

I agree. Chanting/speaking something that is meant to be sung = BAD.

Our school just did LSOH and our director wanted to cut Call back in the morning, and our Seymour wanted to jsut chant it, but luckily we didn't cut or chant it we sang it. I like the song, and I have to agree with everyone who says that chanting it is stupid, I think it sounds robotic too.

Call Back in the morning is actually a really lame song, I think, I can't really see any decent purpose in it, except perhaps to open Act Two with a song.
