Bye Bye Birdie audition questions

Hi! I'm planning on autionning for it in December, at my CT. The only problems :

-I'm 13, does it cause a problem?
-I don't have much experience
-I never had any singing lessons, but I can sing, just not amazingly.
-I've never did any auditions for musical theatre, so I'm not sure what to expect.
-I have a french accent

I'm 5'2, long brown wavy hair, brown eyes. I look older, (some people mistake me for a 16-18 girl) probably because of my developped body... Neutral What roles would I be able to get? Because that theatre doesn't make you audition for a particular role, they give you what they think you'd be better at. What songs would be good for me to sing? Because I'm not sure what range I am, I think its around mezzo, and I can sing higher notes, sometimes. Also my voice is quite soft, so I'm afraid that I'd be compared to those who can belt. I don't have much experience in dance either, but I'm quite good and I learn fast, so I think I could do dance numbers if ever.

I'm sorry that its so long, but I'm really nervous about this!
Thanks a bunch!

I think you should definately go for it. Your age will be a good thing for this production, because it features a large teen chorus. There are a couple lead females. Kim, a mezzo, is basically the engenue of the piece, and should be a strong singer. Ursula, her best friend, doesn't need to sing (solos, at least), and is good if comedy is your strong point. There are also tonnes and tonnes of small, ensemble roles for teenagers. There are a few girls who solo in telephone hour, among other things. I don't think your accent will pose any problems.
Have you been asked to prepare anything for the audition? A lot of times, you'll be asked for a song and possibly a monologue. If you don't have a lot of experience, I find song selection is not a big deal. Try to find something that suits your voice and allows you to show personality. There's a lot of talk around this board about picking a song that's not over-done and blahblahblah, but for CT, I would really not stress it. Try to show confidence, personality, and an ability to listen and take instruction. I know that can be ridiculousy hard (and I am such a hypocrite, because I show zero of those things in audition), but just do your best. It's a fun show, and a really great one to start out with. It was my first full-length musical!

Hey! Thanks for the advice.

They didn't announce what I need to do yet, so I go check every now and then. But if ever I needed to get a monologue ready, do you guys have any idea what I could do? Because I don't know where I could get one, and I was told that the monologueshould be age appropriate, so where to look for a 13 year old monologue?

Kim is NOT a mezzo. She has to hit a high A-flat in "One Boy." Don't even try for it if you haven't got that note. Ursula would probably be okay, though.

A real mezzo could hit that.

Hey, I've been told that Freddy my Love from Grease would be a good audition song for BBB. Also, I'm able to sing it properly, and comfortably. What do you guys think? Do you have any other suggestion?

I was also told that Little Known Facts and MAYBE My New Philosophy both from You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, though the last one is overdone, but I thought that they didn't show off my voice as well.

Any other ideas?

Thanks!
