But Never Jam Todayso, i decided to look up Cleavant Derricks (from Sliders), 'cos i'd heard he's done broadway shows. i found this show (in the subject line), from 1979 and it gives no description. who can tell me about it??
obviously, it's another version of alice in wonderland...
oh, and brenda "velma kelly" braxton was a mushroom, hehe.

It's one of Broadways' legendary disasters. Vinnette Carroll, who wrote the hit musical "Don't Bother Me, I can't Cope" wrote this all African American version of the Alice story and it was titled "Alice" on the road and in an off Broadway production in 1977. It went through multiple changes, before opening on Broadway. A lot of money had been spent on it, and it lasted a week on Broadway.
Bob Larimer wrote most of the music and lyrics. "Curioser and Curioser" is tuneful and entertaining and "Tell Some Pretty Lies to Me" is a nice song for the Queen. Otherwise, it's not an interesting score, especially after the excitement of "Dont' Bother Me, I Can't Cope".
"The More I see People" is a really awful attempt at a calypso number for the Cheshire Cat.

Thanks for the reply. I love Alice In Wonderland. I thought this might be an all african-american version, but didnt wanna assume since i dont know the names in it, save for Brenda Braxton and Cleavant Derricks.
