Broadway Show

K, so I just got back from new York, and I was SO SO SOOOOOOO dissappointed by the broadway cast......especially Rita Wilson-not the woman who played velma-her name just slipped my mind-but I liked her........has anyone else seen it?? I was expecting this huge illustrious set and i was really truly dissappointed

I havent seen Rita in it but the beauty of this musical is they dont need a huge illustrious set. If you go expecting some Disney-esque set you will be disappointed.

The cast and characters are all that is needed for this musical. Simple set but awesome show in my opinion. I think if they had more of a set it would truly take away from the show.

I am sorry you were disappointed in Rita. I really havent heard much about her. I saw the touring show in June and was once again mesmerized by the cast. The cell block tango did lack some of the oompf that it used to have but maybe the cast was different then.

- Well you obviously knew NOTHING about this show before seeing it. All you knew about was the movie, obviously.

Chicago is EVERYTHING but a big set. Having a big set would take away EVERYTHING the show stands for.

Next time do some research about a production before you see it, then complain about it.

Chicago is brilliance on Broadway.

I'm not trying to start anything, but you really didn't need to be so rude to me. I have every right to my own opinion and I was hoping that everyone on this site would at least respect it. I don't mind if anyone disagrees, but I'd appreciate if my opinions were treated just like anyone elses. Thank you.

Replying again...my school has a very prestigious theatrical reputation, and I know that we always make extra efforts to have amazing sets and some of ours have honestly been just as good-if not better-than broadway. Now, I do understand that it was their purpose to not have a set so that their talent was the thing being applauded in the end-but because I've never been to new york I've never seen a professional show, and I've only seen the movie, then what else am I supposed to expect? I mean really...just because I don't research a show before I see it doesn't mean I deserve to be spoken to that way. I respect their efforts and ideas on set design, but it doesn't mean that I EXPECTED it to be that way.

Yeah...just had a couple more things to say.

Hasta la Vista!
