British Cinema Release Date???

Hi,

Does anyone know when, or if, Rent is going to be released in the UK? I saw the trailer on Film 2005 last October and havn't heard anything since.

If it isn't going into the cinemas does this mean it will go straight to DVD?

Thanks,

I heard April. Does anyone know why international release dates are so much later than US release dates?

It came out here on 7th April. I went to see it and really enjoyed it. I thought it worked really well, I don't know why everyone is fussing over it and saying it was rubbish.

So you've seen the Phantom movie, too?

Haha, kidding.

Seriously, though. RENT is an amazing movie, a lot better than a some crap out there.

My feelings exactly!

just because their's worse out there does not make the movie any better. It may be better than the Phantom movie, but really, is that so hard to do. lol. The movie should not be compared to anything but the original bway show. And it fell majorly short in that effect, making the movie rather sucky.

I've never seen the show live, so I haven't really anything to compare it to. But the movie blew me away, it moved me in ways few movies ever have. When someone asks me if a movie is good, I don't respond in terms of the acting, or the lighting, or the directing. What matters is how it affected me. Did I walk away from the theatre thinking about what I was going to do the next day, or did I walk away thinking about the story, the theme, the characters? That's what matters to me. And RENT hit me harder than anything else ever has, because I know I don't live for today, and until I saw the film I never realized what I'm wasting.

No matter how brilliant a film is, at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is my reaction to it.

It did fall short of the Broadway show, I completely agree with that. But I do not really agree about the comparisons. They are two different mediums and really, if you want to honestly judge a movie, you can't do it with that bias towards the original material. You can compare the two with how faithful an adaptation it was or even how the movie lives up to it but that alone does not make a sucky movie. Really, if anything made this movie bad I would think it was the editing and certain choices in direction. That being said, I do usually base my opinions on movies the same as ShadowInTheWings. If it can keep me thinking about it and wanting to see it again rather than sitting there wishing I could get the two hours of my life back, that's all that matters to me.
