Boom Crunch!

What are your thoughts on this orginal Witch's song that was later replaced by Last Midnight?
Pannic

You mean the change in verses from "You're so nice" to the lullabye to the baby?
ConverseSneaker

No...I mean the Boom Crunch Song that Last Midnight replaced. It's a bonus track with the orginal Giants in the Sky and Back to the Palace on my ITW OBCR. It's different from Last Midnight and I was curious what other people thought about it.

I don't care for Boom Crunch. It's just very sporadic and I don't like it much.

I also despise the other version of Giants in the Sky, but that may have a lot to do with the singer. And Back to the Palace is... all right, I suppose, but I like On the Steps better.

I didn't mind it but I much prefer Last Midnight...

I agree with the sporadic thing...It's a good song on it's own but I don't really like it with the show...I dunno o_O
Sweeney Hyde

I don't like it much either.

Although...I think musically it makes sense...the witch is extremely frustrated, her daughter has just died, etc. In addition, we're building to a climax...the fluctuating music helps convay all of these things.

However, I much much much Prefer Last Midnight...although Sondheim has said, I believe, that he was never quite satisfied with how that turned out...they ran out of time...he wrote Last Midnight fairly quickly before opening.
