Book AbuseUrm, does anyone know if it's possible to iron paper? My beloved copy of Wicked has sort of died, due to an unfortunate incident involving a puddle and cold weather conditions. In short, I need to either press the badly wrinkled pages and bleach and/or destain the badly marked and muddy sections of the book.Who wants to buy me a new copy? Normally I would do that, but I don't have $15. I'll post pictures of its sorry state in the near future. In the meantime, however... |

Thank goodness Christmas is around the corner! Aww I'm sorry to hear about your book. I was in a similar situation when my yearbook got water all over it. I think I set up straight and tried to use a fan in order to dry off the pages. But, in this case, I think buying a new copy would be better. It seems like your poor book has gone through a lot!

I actually have two copies of Wicked - one which I borrowed from a girl I was in a play with who I will probably never see again, and one which I bought for a school course because I had lent the original copy to a friend who waited two and a half years before returning it. Alas, I'm a broke college student with NO money for postage.

I dont think Ciaron has a problem with the novel...like most of us..he doesnt care for the musical.
I loved the book and was appalled by what Schwartz did to it for the stage. |

Re: Book Abuse
LOL. I would work on this problem first. |

That kind of happened to my OotP book. I brought it with me to our band comp at Napa, and it was raining a ton, and even though my bad was under one of those tarp roof things, everything got wet. I was sad, but I still have the book. It dried, and only the cover is messed up. Try blow drying it, and once it's dry, put it under a stack of dictionaries. That'll at least work until you can afford a new copy.

just get a book on tape, then you can be lazy and not have to turn the pages

Ooh, a good idea indeed! Unfortunately, a book on tape costs like, $60. Which I don't currently have.
Yeah, today I used a hairdryer. Here are my photos. http://flickr.com/photos/60439507@N00/73345538/ Attempting to flatten it out. Notice my amazing choice in literature. http://flickr.com/photos/60439507@N00/73345539/ Hairdryer action. http://flickr.com/photos/60439507@N00/73345542/ A rather annoyed me, with the "corpse" |

I have to ask - why were you taking pictures of yourself hair drying a book?
Who does this? |

I figured it may be amusing. Why not?

They amused me. I noticed your Harry Potter book in the first picture. It's rather different from mine (the spine is anyway). |

Oh? Do you have the British version.
Thanks for checking out my piccies. |

No, I have some crazy German version. It's not really German, but you get the idea. |
