Blood Brothers

Hi all.

Sorry if this is has been answered somewhere else for someone else, but I don't have time to search.

I've just found out auditions for an amatuer production of "Blood Brothers" are next week. I'm thinking of auditioning of Mikey (the rougher of the two twins).

Any suggestions for an audition song. I haven't heard the music for the show yet, so don't know what style and sound the songs are.

Thanks!

Have a listen to the song excerpts on Amazon to get an idea. It's modern but not rock or pop and British. I would do some Lloyd Webber, how about something from Aspects of Love? Also check out Whistle down the wind for material.

M'kay, I probably can't give you any songs to audition with, but I can ramble on and on about Mickey's character and the style and the songs till you'll probably think of one anyway.

Ahem.

Mickey's character changes rapidly during the course of the musical, especially from Act 1 to Act 2, he becomes more serious, angry, and as you may know he goes through a stage of depression. If you have an acting audition you must be able to do convey this sort of thing, act like a little kid and talk with a scouse accent (natch).
Now, the singing: Mickey mostly sings in Act 1 when he is 7 (nearly Cool but he does sing a little in Act 2 aswell (that guy, take a letter miss jones). In Act 1, his (and eddies, but he sings most of it), is Sunday Afternoon, which is about him missing Eddie when he moves away. The style of this song is slow, rather sad and pondering, but a little middle part of the song is very upbeat, (the same melody is repeated in That Guy) but is most sad, with quite a few long notes and such. Mickey also sings in Bright New Day, a very upbeat song about moving house into the country. Most of the songs in Blood Brothers are quite slow-moving and rather sad, but there are a few exceptions.

Yes, I'm a geek, I hope that helped!
(if it didn't, ignore me)
And I know I didn't use any technical terms or mention composers or anything like that, but I gave you stuff about Mickey's character, and the songs, so, have fun! I hope you get the part!

Thanks for the "low down" on Mickey - most helpful.

I'll keep looking for a song in my collection with that in mind.

Thanks again!
