Bianca back to Chicago!

Bianca Marroquin will be reprising her role of Roxie Hart on Broadway from the 14th. of January till the 20th of April.

Hasn't she also played Velma in the Broadway production? So she's one of the very few actresses who has played both of the leading roles. Ruthie Henshall and Bebe Neuwirth are the other two that I know.
xsophiex

I don't think she's played Velma.
stlgurl702

she didn't
ruthiefan_felix

Bebe's the only who's played both Roxie and Velma on Broadway I think.
Ruthie, Anita Louise Combe for West End.

Again ?????

There is not an ounce of creativity left in the Chicago musical casting office except for stunt casting. It appears to have been replaced by laziness and boredom. Rolling Eyes

Meh...Bianca just seems like another one of the bland, generic Roxie's that they use until they can find a celebrity to play the role. *Sigh*
Salome

most of the "Stars" are generic Roxie Hart's. peoplec like Bianca are real working actresses not gimmick like Melanie Griffiths or Marilu Henner.
SupremeDiva

Bianca has never played Velma.

As for the rest of it.... well I keep saying Im going to see this one and that one and I just can't bring myself to go back to the show. lol Haven't been there in.... shit, how long has Rox been gone now? 3 years? Yeah, havent been there since then.

By the looks of things (and really, just take a look around this forum and read reviews from recent shows), you aren't missing much.

It's rare that there are any non-generic Roxie's lately. The show really seems to have taken a turn for the worst.

Now, I've never seen Bianca perform the role, but from what I have seen of her as Roxie...Nothing really stands out as being particularly spectacular.
ruthiefan_felix

yea its so sad how generic all the Roxies are... I mean watching Ruthie perform the number ROXIE I realise how different a Roxie can be!

btw Im glad ppl r back to the forum... been very quiet lately! (same can be said to the show Wink )

Same here. Smile

Oh Im aware Im not missing much. There was a point, when more friends were in the cast, that I cared a whole lot more.

Right now, I think the only thing that might get me back to Chicago is Jesse L. Martin as Billy. Because i LOVE him. Wink

The Weisslers will never be that smart, I think. Or Jesse will never be dumb enough to say yes. Though he could sing the hell out of that role!

That'd actually be awesome...Mostly because he's a well-known actor but not famous enough for it to be called "stunt-casting". Plus he'd be good for the role I think. Smile

He hasn't played the role before, has he?
SupremeDiva

No, he has never played Billy. And to the best of my knowledge, he's never been offered the role either.

They need to get on that.
