I'm not male, but if I was I would LOVE to play Billy Bigelow. I think that's a wonderful role for a man.

Sammy Fong is a supporting role..plus you missed Emile DeBque from South Pacific and Doc form Pipe Dream.
Deeque is one of the greatest male roles in the R&H canon.

I agree with Debecque. I'd go for him. 2nd is King, 3rd is Bigelow. The King is the toughest because everyone expects an interpretation that is the same as Yul Brynner's. He so owned that role that it is difficult for anyone else to portray hiim the King to the audience's satisfaction.

Please could I ask you a question about the R&H male leads? I've had a thought that perhaps the lead parts tended to have more vocal meat in Oklahoma and Carousel. I've thought that towards the later shows, from South Pacific on, the male leads have had less to sing as a proportion of the whole musical, even though they get some superb songs like Edelweiss and Some Enchanted Evening.

I would have voted for Emile - what a challenging role and sing - but Billy is certainly a great role -so I voted for him.
I don't know why I'm not that interested in the King, possibly because, I'm not that interested in the show

The King. He is my favorite among the R & H male roles. I think he would be interesting to play (if I were a guy). The King and I is the only one of the "major" R & H shows I've not been in.

you are still in the age range for Lady Thaing though.
I want to play Anna before I hit 40.

Yeah, I've always wanted to play either one of those roles....
Though when I was younger, my voice was better suited to Tup Tim.
Lady Thiang, yep, I'd do it in a heartbeat. I LOVE "Something Wonderful".
