Best Production(s) You've Ever Seen/Heard

Your favourite productions of MFL. Personally, I have seen two (movie and local production) and heard three (OLC) nad the best by far I think is the OLC. This is a totally personal thing and varies, I guess. So whatever you think, put down here (e.g. goods and bads, certain characters, sets, costumes....) I will also add a poll for all of the original productions.

I have seen the movie and the London revival with Joanna Riding, and I preferred the London revival. I have also heard the OLC and the London revival with Martine McCutcheon (sp?) and I preffered the OLC. I am not sure which I preferred out of the OLC and the revival with Jo Riding, I think on the whole the OLC, but there were some songs which I preferred in the revival, such as Show Me. Both were good though, and Jo Riding was fabulous

My favorite was the London production at the Royal National Theatre.

I was also surprised that I liked the Richard Chamberlain Broadway revival. They took a lot of liberities with the style of presentation.

I only wish I was old enough to have seen the original London cast!

As for the most recent casts I havn't seen any of them so I can't say much about those. However I can talk about the film. As much as I adore Audrey Hepburn, I just wish they had cast someone who would have actually sung the part - I feel sorry for the person who didn't get any recognition for singing that part.

Marni Nixon dubbed Hepburn in the film..and got lots of recognition. She is a well known stage star..currently playing Mother Abbess in SOund of Music with Melissa Errico and Rachel York.

As for my favorites....OBC and Film. Sir Rex Harrison is a true genius. No one can capture that role like Him.

Marni Nixon reminds me of myself. A talented singer (not that I'm being arrogant, but most people seem to like my voice), who got stuck in all the crappy character roles during her youth. She once said something about always getting character roles because she could "scream in high C." That really struck a chord with me (no pun intended), since I'm currently doing just that with my role as Fruma Sarah.
