Best musical for a stereotypical "dude?"

Hi, I'm visiting NYC this weekend with my boyfriend. I used to live there and love the theater. He's never been to NYC or to see a musical in his life. I want to introduce him to Broadway (or off-Broadway), but he doesn't have one cultural bone in his body. The only thing he watches is SportsCenter and Adam Sandler movies. Can you recommend a show for a guy like him? I was thinking maybe Young Frankenstein? Or Spamalot? I don't imagine he'll fall in love with theater no matter what show we see, but I'd like to find something at least somewhat "manly" or maybe something where things blow up? Haha. Also, it needs to be a show that might have a chance of being at the TKTS booth.

Thanks!

Spamalot, most definitely.

Probably your best bets...I would go as far as to say don't go to Avenue Q either...the puppets might turn him off...

Jersey Boys. Men aren't afraid to see a machismo show like that.

I can't believe I forgot about that one. Last year when my family and I were selecting a show to see, my father immediately gravitated towards that one before even knowing the basics of it. My guess is because the title looks pretty macho compared to what else was playing. That and the fact that it has an all-male cast. Apparently my father hasn't seen "Naked Boys Singing!" Wink

Well, there are three women and one female swing.

Not to be rude or anything, but why would you join a forum just to ask a question? There are actually websites out there where you can ask a question and you get answers. This is not one of them. This is a musical forum where we discuss musicals.

I really think Sweeney Todd has a lot of appeal to the stereotypical "dudes".

Maybe not so much the music, but the plot and look, etc...

Thank you everyone for your responses. To the poster who was upset with my asking my question here, please accept my apologies. I found the forum during a Google search as I was trying to find the answer to my question. I was unable to find the answer, so I thought I'd pose the question to people who know best - people who love musicals. Smile Thank you again everyone, they were great suggestions, and sorry if I intruded.

See Spamalot.

I thought I'd follow up and let everyone know that we chose Spamalot. Young Frankenstein seemed most appealing to him, but that wasn't available at the TKTS booth when we went. I thought he might enjoy Chicago but I've already seen it a few times. So, Spamalot it was. I'm a Monty Python fan anyway, so I had a great time. I thought it was an excellent choice. He wasn't familiar with Monty Python comedy, and he was a little turned off that Clay Aiken was in it, but I saw him chuckle a few times and he didn't appear to want to drown himself in the Hudson afterwards, so I guess that counts as a success? Smile

And a little off topic - but we also saw Eddie Izzard do standup at Union Square. He is one of my favorite comedians, so it was a lot of fun. I recommend if he comes to your area!

Thanks again, everyone!
