Brock07

I agree with most of those...

I didn't like Christian Bale as Batman though...I liked Michael Keaton much better...
Salome

your list is too long and contains alot of the crappy later batman films...

Villians:

Ian McKellen in X Men
Alfred Molina in SPiderman 2
Terrance Stamp in SUperman II
Jack Nicholson in Batman
Christopher Walken in Batman II
Frank Langella in Masters of the Universe
Willem DeFoe in Spiderman
Louis Jourdan in Swamp Thing

Patrick Stewart in X Men
Christopher Reeve in Superman

Micheal Chikis in Fantastic Four
PappyCat

I adored the X-men films and thought they were beautifully cast. (Ian McKellen? OMG!)
Brock07

I agree....pretty much the best casting job EVER!!
Salome

well cyclops sucked and halle berry wasnt given much to od as storm but the rest of the cat was perfect.
Sweeney Hyde

I'm only going to talk about villians as heros are poopy.

Jack Nicholson in Batman
Danny DeVitto in Batman Returns
Christopher Walken in Batman Returns
Michelle Pfiefer in Batman Returns
Jim Carry in Batman Forever
Ian McKellen in X-Men
Alfred Molina in Spiderman 2
Salome

HATED DeVito's Penquin. and Carrey COULD have played a good riddler if the film wasnt such a joke.

Cyclops could have rocked if he had been given a role in the films...He was barely there.

I liked Michael Clark Duncan as the Kingpin and Colin Farrel as Bullseye in Daredevil.
Salome

hated them both! so miscast!!!!!! they'd be on my worst list along with eric bana as bruce banner and arnold as mr. freeze. ugh.
Brock07

What was wrong with Duncan? (and please don't say that he's back...)
Salome

well..first off..yes he was black and kingpin isnt..butt he main problem was he didnt ACT LIKE KINGPIN AT ALL!
he wasnt charming,he wasnt elegant..he was a big bully and not a sopisticated mob boss with a brutal side.

dont get me started.

What was wrong with DeVito's Penguin?
I think he finally made Penguin a threat. Most of the time, he's a joke villian...even making some of the "Worst Comic Book Villians" lists!
DeVito took what would otherwise have been a dumb villian and made him evil, scary, and a threat!

Carry...I think with what he was given he did an outstanding job. At least Riddler is something like the character in the comic books in that film as opposed to Two-Face...again...Tommy Lee Jones did a good job for what he was given...but...ugh...non of the insanity of being two different personalities was written in the part! Ugh.
Salome

there have been Pengun's in the comic books that were threatening but not gross and idsgusting. I hated the whole "raised by penguins" back story and the fact that he was semi human.
penguin should be elegant and ominous not lecerous and disgusting.

the only good batman movie was the first one.
Quique

I love Robotech comic books. The rest are blah.

I agree-mostly-that's why I put them on the list...the 3rd film wasn't the greatest but they stood out as actually putting good effort into their roles and evidently had fun doing them. And DeVito's penguin was fun to watch...but Pfeiffer and Walken really took the cake. BEST Catwoman EVER...sexy and disturbed...yummy. AND she used a real whip, unlike Halle Berry and her CGI whip.
Brock07

I havn't had the heart to watch Catwoman.
Salome

sorry..I love devito in everything but he SUCKED IN bATMAN
Sweeney Hyde

Well then we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I ALMOST FORGOT.

EVERYONE in V for Vendetta was AWESOME.
Salome

and dont forget Ian Holm,Ian Richardson and Johnny Depp in From Hell.

I love you.
benjivaudeville

Ron Perlman was very good in Hellboy, I thought.
And Sin City is one of my favourite movies.
Salome

Yes Witch!
I used to drool over Jourdan as Dr. Arcane!
Brock07

I HATE Hellboy. I was bored out of my mind.

Dawn, and I say this with all respect, you didn't do your research on this one. The Marvel movies, for the most part, follow the 21st century retcons, i.e. the "Ultimate" brand where it applies. In this universe, the Kingpin is as he appears and acts in the Daredevil movie, and Duncan was cast appropriately. Besides, with Marlon Brando dead, who could play the old version?
Dax

As much as I scrutinize performances, I also look at the overall movie.

For example, Ian Mckellan as Magneto was top notch I thought. However, X-Men 3 doesn't exist to me. (A piece of garbage that should never have been made.)

Of the movies mentioned:

V for Vendetta was excellent as it was. And Hugo Weaving was fitting. As an adaptation..probably not. (The one author, Alan Moore, refused to endorse it. It was too altered from the original comic book apparently)

The first two X-Men movies were pretty good reinventions of the comic book series. A smart decision to focus on the one character (Wolverine) and have him take us through the story. (X-Men 3? I believe it was said best here.
The only one I had a problem with was Halle Berry as Storm. (On a side note, the artist who helped to make the XMen comic book into a success in the 70s died a couple of years ago.)

Fantastic Four.
No...
A mess from start to finish. The only ones that fit their roles were Michael Chikliss and whoever played the Human Torch.
And whoever wrote the script should have been beaten, dragged through the street, shot several times, and hung at sundown for how they made Doctor Doom. They pretty much anal raped my favorite super-villain, who in my opinion, should have stolen the movie had the script been more tailored to the comic-books. (As far as I remembered, when Doom appeared in the comic-books, he pretty much upstaged everything. This was a good thing.
Now I admit I was open for a reinterpretation but this was what they created? A power-mad CEO (capitalist) who apparently wasn't even close to being the genius Reed was? Screw that...and screw them for doing that. That's almost the opposite of what the comic-book version was.
As far as the other characters went, there just wasn't enough time to get indepth enough to go beyond "comic-booky" two-dimensional characters. The first X-Men movie had that same problem. That was probably why the main thrust of the story was on Logan. (Of course that fact that that character was immensely popular to begin with can go without mention.)
Had they done the same thing with this movie and focused primarily on one character (Ben Grimm would have been the wise choice) this movie would have been slightly better.

Superman wasn't bad. No complaints. (Not my favorite though)

Batman...my my.

The first versions...I admit, when I first heard that Keaton was playing the role I was aghast. A comedian? Why? But he did the job well. I rather credit Burton more so for that "mental" element however. And Nicholson stole that first movie anyway.
The 2nd movie I thought was done well. Michelle Pfieffer and Danny Devito did a remarkable job.

The 3rd and 4th movie..I don't want to remember them.

Batman Returns...with Christian Bale. Was a reinvention that I liked a lot. (And I suspect that the Joker of the upcoming movie played by the late Heath Ledger, will be every bit as disturbing and terrifying as the character was supposed to be...)

Spider Man. The director stuck to the basic premise and more importantly, to canon when making these movies. Nothing to complain here. (And I always despised the character Venom so I had no problem seeing as little as I did.)

Daredevil..not good. Story pretty much sucked. Electra should NOT have made an appearance yet. Michael Clarke Duncan was an ok choice for the role of Kingpin, but... I think I would have preferred another.

That's it for now...
