Bernadette Peters as Norma???

Does anyone else think that Peters would be interesting as Norma?

She is 60-something, but I saw her live last month and she looks younger than that... I'm sure she could pass for Norma's age and her voice doesn't seem to have aged at all since "Into The Woods".

I just think she would be interesting, partly because of her own baggage
(Peters is an arguably a fading star herself) and the emotion that would bring to the role... but I imagine she could really play up to the duality of the character, the egomaniacal bitchiness and the lingering traces of her old movie star glamour and romanticism.

Now, am I crazy, or does anyone else think she'd make an interesting Norma?

she'd be an awful Norma. as bad a norma as she was an Annie oakley.

Peters does best in roles written with her in mind.

and she just turned 60 this year but still looks 40.

I agree. I can't see her as Norma at all.

I can't picture her as Norma either.

Wow...if she looks that good at 60 then she's on my list with Susan Sarandon of smokin' old hotties.

Oh, but I can picture Sarandon as Norma...can't picture Peters.

Honestly, I think she could be an excellent Norma!
Actually, it sounds good on paper, but the more I think about it, i realize it could be a train wreck. Hit or miss situation, I think.

I love Bernadette in anything she is in but this is a role that I think won't be right for her voice or her. I can see her as Mrs. Lovett tho Smile
