Yeah, that's definitely an interesting question, Tyler, I had never thought of it either. BUT, I have a feeling that if Jonathan had wanted Benny to have AIDS, he would have left some trace of it in there, you know?

I think so too.
I noticed this problem before, but I always assumed it was just sort of an oversight... Rent has a few of those when it comes to time (for example, what year it takes place in, Act I taking place entirely in one night, etc.). In the movie, didn't they change it to two years or something instead of three months? Anyway, I think Mimi has probably had AIDS longer than three months, but I don't think that Benny is supposed to have AIDS... maybe they just used protection like a previous post said? I don't know.
