Behind the Emerald Curtain Announcement

The Emerald Curtain takes the Windy City by storm!!!

“Behind the Emerald Curtain” launched in Chicago on March 6, and audiences there are marveling at the behind-the-scenes magic of WICKED. Every Tuesday night at 5pm, audience members in the Windy City are invited “Behind the Emerald Curtain” at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts – where they get to see everything from Eugene Lee’s intricate set model to Susan Hilferty’s Tony-winning costumes, as well as props, wigs and masks from WICKED (when was the last time you saw a flying monkey up-close?).

"Behind the Emerald Curtain" is the only Broadway experience that invites the audience behind the scenes to see what goes into making a spectacular musical like WICKED run – everything from design and production to performance and marketing. It’s been a favorite stop for WICKED fans (as well as folks new to Oz) in New York since it launched in fall 2005 – and now Chicago is getting to experience all the Ozian secrets it has to offer.

Plus an L.A. version is expected to launch this June – stay tuned for details!

They should do this in London too.

Yeah, they should do it every theatre, except the tours beacause that would be difficult.

I have a feeling health and safety laws would not allow one at the Apollo Victoria theatre. It's so HUGE - it would be very hard work - and the corridors are very thin, apparently - and not safe for the "public".

How do you know this?

Gahhhh can't it come to the northeast? I know that sounds like asking a lot, we have broadway, but I've never been there.

You COULD NOT take the public backstage at the Apollo Victoria! It's so cramped. And there isn't the foyer space to put up an exhibition front of house either. The one flaw of the beautiful Ap Vic is that there is not enough space for the audience before the auditorium doors open.

They should do this on tour. At least in the major cities or the big theaters!
I cant get up to NY to see it!

I took the tour in NYC a couple of weeks ago. Pretty neat, but not $25 neat.

Each theatre may be smaller / biggerto each other, so if they did do it on tour, they couldn't gurantee every theatre. Plus, nothing would be settled to do it. In England, the theatre may decide to give a tour of the backstage in general, but not a specific show tour. If you understand what I mean.
