Beauty and the Beast closing protest being staged!!!

Heyyy, everyone. I was seriously considering staging a protest outside of the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to protest the closing of Beauty and the Beast. I have a few friends that are interested, but we need more support!!! The title of the protest would be (seeing as The Little Mermiad has recently opened there) "Kill the Fish! Save the Beast!"

Would anybody be interested?? Please let me know!!!

Thanks a lot!

Ummm.......they spent millions of dollars on The Little Mermaid......and it kinda is already playing...and Beauty and the Beast has been closed for a couple months now.

No offense, but I think this is a dumb idea...

Can't say much else. O/T: Why do new members keep starting these slightly ridiculous threads?

I am - very willing to bet - the biggest person that should be upset about Beauty closing. And for almost a year, I certainly was. The Lunt was practically my second home, still kinda is.

The Fish is NOT as bad as it looks, and if they were to close now, at least two people I care quite a bit about would be out of a job.

So no, it won't ever be Beauty whatsoever, and I await the day we get a revival. However, a protest would be pointless. Put down the signs, hun, and relax.

Gotta agree, it's not a good idea.

-sighs wishfully- Oh, if only I could be in a BATB revival... as Belle, of course. Wink

Even if you did this at a relevant time, I'm sure nothing much would happen.

"Never mind... stop Mermaid rehearsals and rebuild the Beauty set because MizBroadway25 likes Beauty and the Beast!"
Monsieur D'Arque

It's all right. Now go protest something worthwhile.

...Like US troops in Vietnam.

BatB had a good life, let it R.I.P.

It's still going strong on the current UK tour, and probably, other professional companies will give it a go, as well as AmDram groups.

It's time for BatB to be used in other ways than the original Disney Broadway version.

In continuation of my previous statement:

After the smile that I saw on my brother's face tonight (his birthday seeing the Fish), after two people that I consider good friends went through a lot of trouble to help make it that way, THIS Beauty-lover will stand by the sister show and not allow a protest. The Fish stays.

Unfortunately, I've never seen Beauty and the Beast on Broadway, but I still don't think it should be brought back right away. Even if The Little Mermaid isn't as good of a show, BatB still needs a break, especially after running for so long. Relax: it was a great show and I'm sure it will be revived when the time is right, and in the meantime, just try to enjoy the show that IS playing there.
MusicalGal1194

Although I love BaTB, I've loved the Little Mermaid ever since I was a little girl. I would help in the protest, but I think that would be a bit hypocritical of me. Sorry.

Besides, as a community of musical lovers, aren't we supposed to accept that change is a natural thing in the theater world and that we should welcome in new shows with open arms?

Agreed.

(And 'kill the fish'? That just sounds awkward. I kinda like 'squish the fish' myself. Coined by the folks at Bittersweet and Strange. Hehe.)

But really. Mermaid's decent. And I'm glad if anyone, it was another Disney princess who took over the Lunt. But like Faith, I know there will be a revival one day. We just have to hang tight.

Well

Well, thanks for the comments, it was supposed to be a joke, i just liked the slogan, and although i am still mourning the loss of the show, i do realize that it TLM will be in the Lunt for a while.......however i hope to see the show come back soon. There are a lot of girl with their eyes on the role of Belle! Myself included. And for those of you who didnt write back nasty comments about the thread (you all know who you are) I sincerely thank you.
