Ok well I figured since it's 2008 and a new Sweeney Todd forum cast was started I'd start a new 2008 Beauty and the Beast Forum cast.

(Joshua I hope you don't mind I copied your rules and what not cause you wrote them perfectly.)

Rules for Participating:

AUDITIONING:
1. In order to not have any misunderstandings with the auditioning, you MUST post what you're auditioning a few sentences why you want to get that role. Pictures aren't required, but are highly encouraged. (Trust me they do help!)

2. You can audition for more than one character.

3. No cross-gender auditioning. If you're a guy, don't audition for Belle. You won't be taken seriously.

4. Also, please if you are auditioning, don't do it sarcastically or jokingly. It might confuse the voters.


VOTING:
1. You CANNOT vote for yourself.

2. Please vote for all characters, not just one or two people.

3. All votes MUST be sent in by E-MAIL only I won't accept any PMs.

CASTING:
Obviously, the person with the most votes will win each character.
-If multiple people tie for a character, depending on who has votes for other characters, I will draw from a hat for the winner and and then draw again for the Understudy, or if there is only one person, they will get the understudy.
-If a person has the most votes for multiple characters, I will draw for the character that they get and then take the runner up for the other characters and give them the character, etc. depending on how many votes people get.
- The top three girls for Silly girls will get them.

People who didn't get a principle will be put in the ensemble. EVERYONE will be cast, unless they just come here to be sarcastic or put down, then you will just be ignored.

If you are cast in the Ensemble then please if you want a certain object tell me. When that time comes it will be "first come first serve".

Understudies will be the runners up for the roles.

Why I deserve these characters:
I'd love to be considered for the role of Belle; my reasons are too plentiful to count. I was the 1st runner-up, so to speak, for Belle this year in my school's performance. I am a mezzo-soprano, and have been acting since the age of 6. I love and connect with this character. Belle and I both have an intense love of books and a want for something more, plus deep family ties. I am 5'5, strawberry blonde hair, average/slim build. Have been dancing since age 6 as well. Dance captain in 2 productions. Won 1st place in State Solo Singing Comp.

1. IRL I am a dad and an engineer/inventor
2. Vocal range is baritone (which I am) and not too demanding (my singing voice doesn't get a regular workout anymore)

5. I can dance (taught ballroom & swing), so I can supplement the chorus when needed.

Well, pending Mod approval, then:

Roles auditioning for: Belle, Madame, Silly Girl

Belle: (I know all the girls are going to say this,but...) Belle really has been my favorite Disney character since I first saw the movie. Of course, I love to read, just as Belle does. (and re-read and re-read favorite books!) Her inner grace and charm are as appealing as her outward beauty. At a previous community theater I was *almost* cast as Belle, but the director decided to go a non-conventional direction with the 'look' of Belle (bubbly and blonde). I've had experience in all sorts of roles and voice types,(see signature) but would sing with a more 'standard' musical theater sound, bordering on classical, rather than go the route of some Broadway Belles, and be belty. There is a time and place for belt, but not every line. (appropriate for some parts of "A Change in Me", and possibly parts of Belle reprise and Home.) I have no better character analysis than what the movie already gave us. In cases like this, I believe the precedent of the movie should be adhered to, so I would try to bring to life the animated character as much as possible, and follow the logical character expansion as provided in the new songs "Home" and "A Change in Me".
-Vocal range: low F (can sometimes stretch to the low E) to high C.
-Looks- rather tall (5'7",but Beast and Gaston should be big, non?) Brunette (varying shades throughout the year), average body type, and my age is 28. My looks change drastically onstage, with costume and make-up; within the past three years I've played ages 17-50.
Dance- I've had light/medium dance experience, some dance roles, but not in dance-heavy shows. I have beginning ballet and ballroom training.


Wardrobe: Well, if I can't be Belle, my second choice would be Madame. It would be so much fun to be ultra-dramatic and sing-song her dialogue. I've had classical voice training, so I could really pull out the vibrato and *flair* on her singing parts. As a wardrobe, I would make the most of each scene- if a giant wardrobe can't be a Diva, who can ??

Silly Girl: In the amateur productions I've seen (or been in) the Silly Girls have been... scary, really. If I were Gaston I wouldn't hang around. If I were a Silly Girl, I'd know where the line between Silly and Shrill stops. Silly, a little ditzy, blindly devoted to Gaston, singularly focused on him. But not grating. And with that in mind, I'd have a load of FUN!!

(and if cast in the ensemble, I would like to be a Napkin, pretty please!)

I have a feeling that neither Beagle nor Carb will approve this, (The other two mods are never here.) because it's too close to the other forum casts and this was just done a year ago. I was surprised that Aimee approved the Sweeney Todd forum cast too, but having 3 casts in such close proximity to each other, I don't think the mods would allow that.

Why: I've had dibs on this woman since I was 10. When I still had dreams of being an actress, for me it was about finding roles that are almost nothing like me. Don't even hand me a script, LOL. Being an enthusiast for the character even earned me a place in the 2nd Edition of the Playbill Yearbook.

Why: Well, Belle(it rhymes!) is one of my dream roles. Since I was a baby watching BATB for the millionth time since she was so much like me, and she was the first brunette disney princess, like me! We have the same vocal range(I am a mezzo-soprano with a low belt, but I have that prettier sound as I go higher and can sing up to a High G, possibly higher), she has the most beautiful songs, and she's a bookworm. Like her, I would dream for hours about doing something like the characters from the books I would read(and still do). Living in the tiniest town known to the world(that I've ever seen anyways), I've always wanted to be in NYC instead of my dull provincal town(my town has two roads for crying out loud! That's pathetic!). And she doesn't fall for the usual guy everyone else does. She insteads loves someone no else would have because she sees past differences. I'm also a weirdo according to everyone else in my grade because I don't pay any attention to what every other girl in my grade says. And she's devoted to her family, like me. It took me about 2 years to completely mourn my grandpa's death, and my one of my worst nightmare was my mother's health after she was hopspitalized.

And I was Belle in the last forum cast.


As for the enchantress, we didn't have her in my production so it would be cool to play her since she is responsible for the Beast changing. And I was a Silly Girl which was awesome because the silly girls get to drool over the guy with the best songs in the show, Gaston! Although I do adore Lumiere.....

Madame - always been a dream of mine! She's one of those characters that you can go absolutely crazy with, but it still makes sense. I've always wanted to play a part like hers - and I've finally aquired the proper vocal range for it! I auditioned for Madame recently, and wasn't lucky enough to get the role, so this is sort of a second chance.
Silly Girl: now this one would be fun! I had to temporarily stand in as a silly girl for my school production (this was during rehearsals - one of our girls was ill), and it was insanely fun! Running around, worshipping Gaston, gossiping, giggling - truely a blast!

Characters: Beast

Why: I've playing Beast once already in real life. He's always been one of those characters I wanted to play for the fact that he's the exact opposite of my normal personality. Everynight I got SO's before "If I Can't Love Her" was even over. Many of the directors from previous shows I'd been in came and saw it and cried during "IICLH". I feel I took the Beast's character in a different way than Terrance Mann and Steve Blanchard. I made him a grown man with some spolied child-like qualities still in him after all these years. I made him seem tortured not only because of his own beastly state but also because of the pain and agony he's put his servants in. I think his angry comes from the fact that though Lumiere, Cogsworth, Mrs. Potts and the rest love him dearly he thinks they resent him more and that upsets him in a way no image of his face can. Then to bring in this gorgeous woman whom he instantly falls in love with, but is too damn stubborn to show at first, brings out an anger, despair and passion no one (including himself) had seen yet. And I think that's the best part about playing Beast is to be able to be this character at the beginning that not many people like and then to change him and get the audience to hope for him and Belle is more meaningful then most other roles I've played.

Why I deserve these characters:

Belle: Wow, there are soo many reasons why I should be cast as Belle. Just like Belle, I love to get whisked away into books and fantasies all the time. I am an avid reader, and I dream big and have high hopes. My director said that I could have played Belle if i had auditioned for her, which I didn't.

Mrs. Potts: OMG! She is no doubt my favorite character in BaTB! A lot of girls say, "Oh, Belle has been my favorite disney charcter ever!" Well, this is me with Mrs. Potts. She is so caring and thoughtful and of course I love the song "Beauty and The Beast." My friends think of me as a fun girl but also a caring and motherly person, kind of like Mrs. Potts.In my recent high school production of this show I was cast as Mrs. Potts and I think that I did very well, not to brag. This is my true calling!

Silly Girl: Of course I would much rather be Belle or Mrs. Potts, but I just love the silly girls. Just running around swooning over Gaston would be sooo much fun! I could portray a girl like that very easily.

I am a soprano with a very wide range, playing both Mrs. Potts and Rapunzel from Into The Woods. I am about 5'5, lightish blonde hair, and slim.

Belle: There are too many reasons why I am dying to play this character. There's so much to her that can be lost if an actress doesn't see what she is at her core: a girl who wants to do what's best for everyone, but who can't say no to her heart. I would love to play this character because she is not only beautiful, but smart, caring, and kind as well. I am a natural brunette and have the range to sing all of Belle's songs.

Our rival school is putting on Beauty and the Beast for their show this year, so even being an honarary Belle might make me feel a little better about staying with my school instead of going there and getting the chance to play Belle for real.

Silly Girl: These girls are just too cute and so much fun. Unlike Belle they are totally superficial and I think it would be a lot of fun to be someone who I am totally not in real life.

Being Belle is one of those rare, precious dreams I've had since I was a little kid. At my local community theatre, we were supposed to perform Beauty and the Beast this summer. I've spent the past four months preparing monologues and audition songs for the chance to be Belle... but sadly, it turned out the theatre couldn't obtained the rights. I've been breathing and sleeping the dream of making callbacks for Belle and seeing my name on the list. I'm seriously heartbroken that we're not doing the show and this is my only chance, it seems, to be Belle.

She has spunk, wit, and the unique ability to look past people's appearances and see what they truly are. Belle is intelligent and quirky as well, which are two things that I definitely am. I am a natural brunette, am always told I look European, and have the perfect range for her songs. She has always been a role model and an icon to me.

Silly Girl
Ridiculously silly and superficial roles are always fun to portray. I can be quite flirtatious at times and I've certainly been attracted to the pretty boy who never pays you any attention before. I think there's a delicate patheticness to these girls that sometimes gets lost in their comedic actions.

Babette: Babette was always my favorite character, I think she'd be one of the most fun parts to play. There's some funny lines and a lot to work with. And okay, who doesn't like to play up the sluttiness? It's fun! Also I think physically I fit fit it - I'm 5'5" and 112lbs, and a featherduster should be slim right? Otherwise, I'm a fairly able dancer, Range of low G to high D sharp, I'm 17.

Silly Girl: These parts are so much fun, cooing over Gaston, fainting, basically being everyone's worst idea of the oldfashioned chick who wants nothing more in life than to get a man. And you get to always hang out with the other two girls, so that'd be a great thing to go with the role too.

Enchantress: I think it'd be a cool part. Sort of mysterious and intense. And if you got to fly for it? Well that would be a fantastic bonus. Being a cheerleader, I'm definitely not afraid of heights

Mrs. Potts - I think it would be really fun. She's a very motherly person, and I am as well. And I would even put up with holding my arm up for that long.

Wardrobe - I love that this is really just a fun role. Also, when I was in BatB, our wardrobe got to do all this coloratura stuff, which would be lots of fun. It's a fun comic role.

Silly girl - I was a silly girl when I was in BatB two years ago. It was a really fun role, and I got to bond with the other silly girls and our Gaston. I liked fawning over him, as well.

My sn is babette07. My name is Kendall and I'm auditioning for the role of Babette. I'm 5'3'', petite, and I am 14. I already made Babette in my school musical and that premiers on Jan. 24. I deserve this role because I am a very good Babette and I know a lot about her. I have a naturally bubbly and flirty personality just like Babette. I have a 3-octave range from the F below middle C to an F 2 octaves above middle C (when I'm warmed up). I am a good dancer, I learn moves very quickly and I am in colorguard. Why I deserve these characters: Um, as for Belle, we are both quite alike. Too many people think I'm strange and I am a bookworm (who knew?) and, well, a lot of people just like to be my friend as I just got a principle role or something.. not what I really am. Babette.. well, she's so much fun! Just a blast, really, to watch, especially. I want her because we are polar opposites, actually. I am not flirty, or anything like that, but she is something I'd like to work towards. Not go all out, but become more flirty and outgoing. Silly Girl - well, I do tend to act.. well, silly sometimes about guys. I think I just get carried away.

I'm a mezzo, and I can hit all of the notes the characters sing.

Why I deserve these characters:
Belle- I'm sort of an outcast, who finds love in a small group of friends. I believe in playing Belle a little less princessy and a little more quirky.

Mrs. Potts- I'm currently her understudy in my production. (And off book too! Yay!) But anyway, isn't she just the mom or grandma that we all wish we had? And that's what I love about her.

Madame de la Grande Bouche- This is who I'm playing in my production currently. And frankly, I'm a little nuts. I play Madame as very loud and overexcited but I still give her depth. Finally, she's SO much fun to play. This is by far my favorite role that I've had.

Silly Girls- This would be so much fun! The audience loves you and hates you. In theatre we usually try to stay away from stereotypes, but this is one instance in which it is ok, or even applauded to play the stereotype.

Who I'm Auditioning for: Gaston, Young Prince, Cogsworth

Why I Deserve this Role:

Gaston - He is perhaps the driving force behind the humor of this role, he gets some really good songs, and he has that awesome cup dance. It's basically a dream role for me. I know he's a jackass, but that's not really a challenge for me. I can be one too, easily He's within my vocal range, which is exciting because not very many roles are. IMO, Gaston is all sorts of back-stabbing awesomeness, and one of the best roles, if not the best in the show.


Young Prince - If I'm not mistaken, this is a non-speaking/singing role, so anybody who's never wanted to hear me sing, and I don't blame you, would be ok with me having this role. But I think this is such a pivotal role in the show, however small it might be.


Cogsworth - Another humorous character. I always kind of imagined myself like him. He's very uptight, and that's what makes him funny, but he's also knowledgeable about a lot of stuff (around the castle, that is). I've always loved to make people laugh and the part of Cogsworth would be very fulfilling.

Why I deserve these roles:

Lefou
Lefou is definitely the character I relate most to. I am probably the whackiest, insane, and absent-minded person you will ever meet. Lefou is a dream-role of mine, because I would dedicate my performance to my older brother. We are so much like Gaston and Lefou, it's not even funny. He is always hitting me (playfulishly ) for being dumb. I know he would love to see me in that role. Gaston is my favorite song in the show, and it would truly be an honor to play Lefou - even if it's just in a Forum Cast. I would be so grateful for any votes cast towards me!

Lumiere
I relate a lot to Lumiere, too. I love singing, dancing, and putting on shows. He is very flirtatious around the ladies, and I'm the same way... in fact, we flirt in the same way! I'm never really serious when I do it - I mostly flirt with my closest friends. So I go totally over the top, use beyond-cheesey pick-up lines and we always have a great time. Lumiere is also a dream-role of mine because he is such an iconic and memorable character. I can also do a wicked French accent, since my extended family comes from Quebec. I would be astounded if I was cast as Lumiere, so I would very much appreciate every single vote cast towards me.

Why I deserve these characters: I have been doing musicals since I was seven and was an ensemble member in Beauty and the Best last summer, so I know the characters really well. I feel that I relate to Belle as a character because I can tend to be a shy, bookish person at times, but unlike Belle, I found my release in theatre. As for the Silly Girls, I feel that I have good comedic timing, which helps with those particular characters, and I also have a love for singing harmonies.

Reasons why I Deserve These Roles:


The first movie that ever took my breath away as a child was Beauty and the Beast. Everything about it still gives me goose bumps. Consequently, the first show I ever saw on Broadway was Beauty and the Beast. From the moment I saw Belle walk on stage I knew that Belle was the role that I needed to be cast in before I died. (Morbid, I know )

There are so many things about the character of Belle that make her a desirable role. She is such a strong girl, and never takes crap from others. Although Gaston is the most popular guy in town, she is not afraid to put him in his place time and time again. Her intelligence is so admirable in a time when being pretty seemed like the most important thing in life, and landing a husband was the only thing to aspire to.

I can connect with Belle in so many ways. My dad calls me Belle because I can literally never get my head out of my books. When ever I'm feeling lonely or sad I'll read, because reading can take me to places where magical things happen (and I'm not just saying that. ) My mom has even banned me from buying books since I read them so fast, and the libary has become my best friend. I always try my hardest to not make judgments about people after first meeting them, and I honestly feel that once you get to know someone it is their inner beauty that makes you continue to want to stay connected. I love my dad more than life, and I actually do knit him scarves very often. Although, if he lost his in the woods I might wonder if it had really been an accident... .

Although I know many girls feel the same way I do, Belle is my dream role and I love every part of the character. I know every single one of Belle's lines and songs, and absolutely adore the show. I would be honored if you guys voted for me, and good luck to everyone!

Orland Park has a GREAT theater troupe, but the director is a little...well I have my personal vendettas against her. But my music/drama director at school is often a director in Oak Lawn, and she's great! She directed our performance of BATB

Why I deserve these characters:

Where do I begin? Besides Beauty and the Beast being one of my favorite shows, Gaston has been one the dream roles I've had the longest, if not the longest. Everytime I listen to the cast recording, I subconsciously will start to sing along to Gaston's part. He gets some of the best numbers in the show, including my personal favorite "Me". He can definitely be a show stealer and be the kind of character that the audience will grow to love and hate at the same time. I could definitely pull off his humor, and personality (plus, he's in my vocal range) if I ever got the chance to perform this role on stage. Sadly, my community theatre just finished doing this show and I didn't get to audition. So most likely I won't get to perform this role for a couple of years , and this is sort of another opportunity for me to semi-be Gaston.

Why I deserve these characters: She is one of those fabulous over the top characters with sass coming out of EVERYWHERE. I dunno, I guess I just always pictured her as a fabulous big girl with huge boobs and big hair, and I definitely fit that. I have this larger than life attitude and presence (or so I'm told) that I think really suits her. Whenever she is onstage, she is just "BAM, I'm HERE!" but she is also really kind and compassionate towards Belle. She's optimistic in regards to the whole curse thing and knows it'll turn out for the best. I think I embody the character quite well.

Why I deserve these roles:

The Beast: I'm a good character actor and the character is in my vocal range. Also, I really relate to him in that I often think I will never be loved because of how I look, although obviously the Beast is much more exagerated in this area than mine. He also has some of my favorite songs.

Cogsworth: I would be a great Cogsworth because I am very serious about life, but I also have a playful side. But I am too cautious sometimes. I'm also a good build for Cogsworth. I would just make a really good Cogsworth.

Lumiere: I think I would make a really good Lumiere because he is one of more comical characters, and I have great comedic timing. I'm also sort of mischevious and playful like Lumiere, and I think I could illuminate (ha ha) his character.

Why I deserve these characters:

belle: well first of all, when i was five i dressed up as belle for halloween and like everyone else, she's been the only disney princess that i actually liked and didn't seem so (no offense to anyone) blonde and princess-y. i'm a mezzo-soprano and my range is really any alto part to soprano (i was in a community theater production of camelot and realized that i can hit those uber high notes!).

as for how i look- i'm trying to see how long it takes for me to grow out my straight, brown hair before i get sick of it. right now it's below my bosom (haha, sorry- that's the only way i could really measure it!). i have brown eyes and i'm 5'4. and i'm not sure if this helps at all, but i've been dancing since i was 3 (i'm 16 now, soo that makes 13 years!) and i've trained in ballet, jazz, kick, tap and hip hop. i've been doing community theater for about 3 years now and i just love it.

how i relate to the character- i'm a book nerd ;] i'm constantly reading a book, and right now i'm reading the twilight series. i don't really speak my mind all too often, my friends say i'm a good listener and all my guy friends like to make fun of me for being so "innocent" (i don't swear, hate hate hate drugs, drinking, etc.) so yeah, that's about it!

silly girl: if you haven't noticed my signature already, i'm currently in beauty and the beast right now with my community theater and i'm a silly girl! so i understand what it takes to be one! my gaston in real life would be zac hanson, from the band hanson :] and that's what i think of in my head when we're rehearsing! heehee. with my friends, we always play the "face game" with our cameras and not to brag or anything, but i can make 209348239 different faces! hah. and when i get on a mountain dew high... i go CRAZY! i sing mezzo-soprano and have danced for 13 years.

babette: this character gets to wear the sweetest costume in the show! seriously! and i love her ridiculous french accent, so i think that'd be fun! this kinda is the same as why i want to be a silly girl, i CAN be crazy for a character! i've danced for 13 years, sing mezzo-soprano.

Why I deserve these characters:
Belle: Im 5"2' about 105 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. I am 19 years old. Since the age of three, when the movie first came out, Belle was always a hero to me. I loved the idea of a smart independent girl. I was a total bookworm, outcast in elementary and middle school. I had very few friends and kept to myself. Once I hit high school things all changed. I found good solid friends just like Belle does at the castle. I found an unexpected guy and things started to fall into place.
I have many of the same personlity traits as Belle. Im smart, curious and I stand up for what I believe in. One of my main goals in life is to play Belle at Disney, more specifially Storytime Belle. I want a library in my house when I grow up and I have a stuffed Beast I sleep with every night. I collect Beauty and the Beast items and have dedicated one side of my room to my collection. If you cant tell, I really want this!

Silly Girl: I am known to be a bit of a flirt. I can be a bit aloof and ditzy at times. I have once played a Silly Girl and rocked it!
