Be jealous of me...because...I saw Bernadette Peters last night.

Here is a little run-down. (This was at our big performance hall with our symphony orchestra, FYI).
They do this overture and she comes out singing "let me entertain you"...SO amazing. SHe wore this tiny little gold dress and looked WAY better than me which made me so depressed. she's effing 60!!!! aghhh.
then she did:
-nothing like a dame
-no one is alone
-fever
-unexpected song (i sobbed. it was one of the most amazing things i have ever witnessed. she got a standing O.)
-mister snow
-shenendoa
-some enchanted evening
...and then she dedicated the rest of the night to sondheim, whom she called a "national treasure":
-johanna
-you could drive a person crazy
-not a day goes by
-children will listen
-being alive
...anndddd a lullaby she wrote for her book.
i think that was it, but i may have forgotten some.
it was mind-blowingly good. she is just a performer in every single sense of the word. amaazzzzziiiinnnggggg.
just wanted to brag because i tried to tell friends at school about it and i got this, "ooh. cool."
SO. be jealoussss.

AMAAAAAAAZING!!!
I saw that show in Toronto last year when it was in Canada (one of the first in the tour, I think) - INCREDIBLE!!! I bawled my eyes out the whole time like a dork.
SO glad you got to see it!! Yay!

I would love to see her live. I've got a recording of her doing Being Alive and she truly is wonderful.

I didn't meet her...I waited THIRTY minutes and then her manager came out and told us she wouldn't be signing. Sad. But oh well.
We were in the 6th row center, too, AND she talked to me.
She started a song (I think it was children will listen), and I put my hand on my heart like a dork because i was like, "ahhhhhhhhh" and as she was walking across the stage she did this:
"Careful the things you say...children will listen, *POINTS AT ME* oh, you! *giggle*"
AHHHHHHHHH i died.
she was so frigging amazing.
so so so so so so so amazing.

I saw that show when she came to Cleveland in March. I almost died. Pretty much the most amazing thing I've ever seen onstage.
And I agree with Allie-- Unexpected Song was freaking amazing. I, too, sobbed! It gave me chills.
AMAZING.
