Yes, I'm quite familiar with the show. It was done at my university about 3 years ago, when I was in my senior year.

We did it at my community theatre too - it's a lot of fun, and a great showcase if you have a very talented male performer.

the score is delightful. the OBC is perfection..the great Jim Dale and the multi talented Glenn Close.
the script however is rather weak. but there are so many great songs people forget the book being rather thin.

I agree. I love the score. I also love the spectacle of creating the circus right on the stage (if you have the budget). My university was lucky to have two students in the theatre department who had gone to circus camp when they were growing up and were trained silk artists, we also used some of the student gymnasts as acrobats, and had a training class in trapeze and tight rope so we could give the full effect of it all. When that back curtain raised during Join The Circus after being closed the entire show and the orchestra was revealed onstage with the circus going on above them (silk artist, trapeze, tightrope) I thought the audience would literally shit a brick. It was definitely one of my favourite theatrical moments.

I was in it a year or so ago. I really didn't like the show. But then I'm also bitter about it lol.

We've used the music in shows before, Come Follow the Band, Bigger Isn't Better, I Joind the Circus.
I love the music.
