Oh... I thought sceual was a ballet term.

I think she means schedule - she used the same spelling on another OUAM-related post.

Yeah, grammar is always a good thing
A ballerina can be used in OUAM, though I have seen productions without one (I think that is a stupid choice, but...)
In the minstrel's opening number, they have 2 female and a male dancer do a small ballet number as a princess, prince, and queen. If you listen to the song(many moons ago), you'll understand. Then typically whoever was in the opening ballet are the dancers who dance the Spanish Panic for the first time(their names escape me at the moment.)
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me

People are mean. Don't let them bother you. If they understood what you were asking they should have answered instead of being smart asses.
In every production I've seen there has been a ballet during Many Moons Ago.
A dancer to represent the queen, the princess, and the prince.
We had all three female dancers, but the dancer playing the prince was very tall, thin, and had short hair. And she wore a puffy shirt to give her a more masculine look.

I am so sorry. I honestly thought it was a dance term... or a French word for skill... because most dance terms are French... and French words are spelled oddly. I had no idea. I am truly very sorry.

Hello Lizarina11! I'm in mattress right now, and in our version, during the scene where Fred is trying to sleep, the nightengale of san marcan is a lyrical dancer and she lip syncs while the singer is off stage...so you could do that! =]
Break a leg, love!

yeah break a leg..it seems like OUAM has a lot of dancing even if they don't have a specific bnallet number..Im hoping for ensemble/maybe Larken in an upcoming production (im kind of young for Larken though) but yeah..dance is a LOT of work..I'm a pretty good dancer but I stopped seriously for shows/singing I have some friends who are amazing ballerinas though?..how do you do it..I couldn't dream of being a ballerina..I'm just looking to increase my skills/fundamentals for Musical theatre..and be in Fosse stuff.AChorus Line, CATS, and the dream ballet as Laurey..lol..but hey it's coming a long..I just beed technque,,anyway I applaud you!..and let us know what happens.
ps: I can't spell either..don't feel bad..or take what people say personally.in general not just online!
pss: Ep-Griz-Reno..what part are you in OUAM??..just curious!

No, do take it seriously. If I can't understand your post, or it take me more than two seconds to comprehend it we have a problem. If you know that you're not a great speller etc. Type your post into Word or some other program and spell check it.

In all fairness (because I'm feeling like a smart aleck today) in the context of this sentence it is "takes" instead of "take"...and there should be another comma after comprehend it...though it is an awkward sentence in the first place.
Grammar is important as well! HEE HEE!
Just my little demo that we can be a bit too hard on each other sometimes!
LOL!

The thing is, you could at least be kind about it. You never know who you're razzing, and Liz has a learning disorder...so I'm pretty sure she does take it seriously, and I'm pretty sure all she wanted was for someone to answer her question. If you couldn't understand it, you could have said something like, "Could you check the spelling of that question? I don't understand what you're asking." OR you could just not comment at all. No one is forcing you to read her post or reply to her question.
Sorry if that comes off harsh, but you just don't get between me and my friends. I'll claw your eyes out. (I love you Lizzo!)

I know Jazzy already pointed it out, but if YOU'RE the one teaching spelling and grammar here, make sure you don't make an idiot of yourself by making spelling mistakes in the post.
Or should I say....

Beagle On Stage
|
I think using the ballet dancers is the most effective way to do the song, but actually neither of my productions used them.
In my first, the Minstrel came up from the back of the theatre, and silhouettes of the three of us were onstage through a scrim. At the appropriate moment, the Queen started to shake her finger at us a move her mouth as though she was harping at us. Then her hands slowly came up and became clawlike as she moved closer to the light, and we huddled together, moving father away from it. The effect was that we started out in a picturesque little pose like you'd find in a book of fairy tales, then the Queen gradually ended up dominating us. At the end of the "Many Moons Ago" sequence, the curtain was closed over the scrim, which was removed as we took our places onstage, then the curtain opened again to find us in tableau for the Princess #12 test.
My second production just used the minstrel singing the song in front of a closed curtain, then stepping back onto the stage to join us just in time for the Princess #12 scene.
It's really one of those things that they may or may not be using, depending on their vision of the show, so I suggest talking to the director about it, and just let them know you'd be interested in that role if they choose to do that.

Our Minstrel just sat on a little mushroom-thing (I don't know why) and sang the song, while miming playing the lute that she was holding. We didn't use a curtain, though. I can't remember if the Princess #12 tableau was there for the whole song or if we entered after the song.
That sounds like a really cool idea, Beagle! That's really cool with the silhouettes!

Guess what. There aren't any spelling mistakes in my post.
I write on this forum exactly how I talk, which of course is not proper grammar. 99.999999999999999999% of people do not use proper grammar when speaking. Now if I were writing a letter for business purposes etc. of course my grammar would be much more professional. I wasn't getting after her about grammar, I was talking to her about spelling.

I cannot believe what I am reading. I'm normally known as one of the nice ones on this site and I'm about ready to blow up. I would suggest that YOU don't use "The way you speak" as a crutch for your inncorrect grammar. Honestly, do you not have any compassion. You always act like you own this site and make all the rules. Just like Allie said, she asked a question-and just like SHE said-when people are in a hurry, they make mistakes anyway. I really hope that one day you will learn to not expect people to be carbon copies of what YOU want them to be.
I could still understand liz's post-even with the errors.
I mean this in all honesty: Could you PLEASE at least try to be nice on this site. I mean it. There are so many problems on this site caused by people like you.
As far as I recall, I've been nothing short of a sweetheart to everyone on this site-spelling errors or not, whether I agree or not.
It isn't that hard.
I promise.

...Obviously, you have not been on this site long enough to make judgements about me. I am confident in myself, my abilities and my knowledge about all things musical theatre. I'm one of the few people on this site who stick up for people who like shows that aren't respected by theatre snobs etc. I've definetly been known to share a lot of what I have, and talk to MANY people outside this forum who have no qualms with my behavior whatsoever on this site. I don't get where you're coming from when you say I act like I rule this site. Possibly you may have misinterpreted some things I have said to friends of mine on this site, that only they could have grasped the full humor of comments. Of course I have been on this site for SEVERAL years, since 1998, and have earned seniority around here. I stick up for what I believe in and voice my opinions and can ALWAYS back up what I say and encourage others to do the same.
What is wrong with this site, is the lack of insightful conversation and the battery of inane posts.

Wow... I would like to comment on all the drama on this site, but it seems we have lost the real topic of this post.
I resently played FRED in OUAM. It actually closed last weekend. I was in the show with the Ep-Griz-Reno. She Played Larken.
In our production Many Moons ago was sung in front of a scrim. Behind the scrim there was a group of Prince, Princess, Queen etc. and you saw them some what act and dance out the story behind the scrim. But I think it could be done many different ways. And our Nightengale was a lyrical dancer. ( P.S I am one of the worst spellers in the world, but its who cares... I am sure you do alot of other things great like dance etc... it doesnt mean you are not trying its just somthing that comes harder to some than others. I have never been a good speller and probably never will be. Sorry I know I said I wouldn't comment on the drama but I couldn't help myself)

The point I was trying to make is that I find it very rude to bother someone (especially in that particular state) about their troubles. My cousin is mentally disabled, and that is a VERY sensitive subject for people to touch on. PLEASE show some respect-if not to me, at least to everyone else. The self-esteem level of everyone on this site does not need to be lowered-it breaks my heart.
To everyone else: I apologize for the "drama" I participated in. However, I think if any one of you had to go through what I've gone through, you would understand that this is something that I felt I needed to address.
My apologies again,
Ep-Griz-Reno
