ballad for into the woods audition!!

i was wondering if anyone had suggestions for a ballad for an into the woods audition? especially for little red?
jazzygirlsings

A ballad for the character of Little Red would not be your best choice...

Pick a bright uptempo...

I bet if you take a look in the "Audition Song Thread" you may get some good ideas...

I personally, would direct you toward some shows by Ahrens and Flaherty...

unfortunately, i have to sing an up-tempo and a ballad...i really don't know why we have to =(

This is what I would suggest:

Do the up-tempo one to show off the belty, annoying stuff.
The ballet to show little girl tendancies, but with a hint of understand of the adult world.
My goodness does this sound cheesy.
What about A Change in Me?
bad suggestion, i'm tired, brain is slow

I would definitely do the uptempo first.

Otherwise, I would sing "I Remember" from Evening Primrose...(You can find it in one of the anthology books for sopranos) And, in this case, it is OKAY to sing a Sondheim song for a Sondheim show...

OR..."They Say That Falling in Love is Wonderful" from Annie Get Your Gun...I think that it could be done whistfully and very childlike and could really work, acting-wise...

my friend played little red and she san Sixteen Going on Seventeen, i believe it's from the Sound of Music.

and my other friend who played Rapunzel sang Mr. Snow from Carousel

You're on an Ahrens and Flaherty kick, too-huh? LOL! Smile

And also "Journey to the Past" is a great song from Anastasia, but I'm not sure it works well for this audition. It may be too contemporary sounding...if that makes any sense...LOL!

so u don't think 16 going on 17 would be a good idea??
jazzygirlsings

It's not really a ballad, which is what you said you were ultimately looking for...also, I feel that Little Red should have a spirit about her that's younger than "16 going on 17"...

Not a good choice, in my opinion...

I actually like the idea of "Once Upon a December"...
