Baggage

I am a young, innocent little kid ( Rolling Eyes ) who is wondering what Baggage means. It is mentioned a couple of times in the musical, a couple in the movie, and I just want to know what it is so that those scenes make sense!
Thanks!

Young, innocent kids can still use dictionary.com:

3. Superfluous or burdensome practices, regulations, ideas, or traits.

FYI, I did look at dictionary.com. But I still don't understand what it means. If someone could tell me what it means using different words, I would be very happy! Mr. Green

baggage refers to past experiences people have, that somehow still weigh on them or affect them in everyday life.

Roger's baggage is his past girlfriend comitted suicide. he and april both have aids etc

mimi's is that she's a struggling drug addict... etc

Actually, I think that line is used in the literal and emotional sense. It also means that Collins doesn't have much emotional baggage to bring to the relationship. He and Angel both already share AIDS, so that isn't a new one. And Jesse L. Martin said in an interview that that way the character was presented to him, Collins never fell in love before Angel and that is why Jesse always played him shyer. And of course the literal sense that Collins doesn't really have anything material-wise.
