Backstage Drama in Stockholm CATS

It seems as though "scatological cats" can be added to the list of Jellicles now:

Backstage, scandal has rocked the company, as one cast member has been targeted for sexual harassment against several of the female performers. Included in the sexual harassment allegations are inappropriate comments and groping behind the scenes. Tension escalated last night when the offender in question received a feces-filled show in his dressing locker with a note that read: "stop harassing us."

There's an internal investigation underway... and I assume some kind of disciplinary hearing will follow.

Sweet Lord! Sad Sad Sad Could be a reason til why they closed the blog so sudden... But if its true I never expected this kind off behavoir from profesional actor (the male, mostly since the poor girl is the offended here even thou she made one wrong move that she shouldnt have done IMO.). d'oh! I know theese unitards are hot but, come on! Embarassed Confused

Afaik most actors like people from their own gender ... so this bit of information sounds quite odd to me... Shocked Very Happy

Well I can understand why its best to put gay (and I got nothing at all against them!) in roles like Rum Tum Tugger Embarassed But I doubt that "most" actors is gay...

This was one of the most chocking news for me ever but now I settled down to my normal shelf and can take this shit (sorry couldnt help!) with a little more relaxed atityde. Ofc theyre all humans and since most of them looks better than usual and more than one is preatty young you can see why this could happen! But it doesnt make it less accepteble thou.

I guess its important for the theathre leadership and stage manager/director to point out the importance off seperating works and private life to the young teenagers (and others to!) all the time during the run off a show and if the need an example off how not to do this could do well!

But I still want to see the end result and I hope that the participating actor/actress (Both the offender and the one protesting in this rude way!) is emdiatly removed from the show no matter what theyre part is and that an public announcement off regret is coming from the theathre management/actors. Then I am happy.

Professional actors are human, professionals like any other person. Sadly sexual harrassement - and all kind of harrassements - exist in all the world and in all professions. It's such a horrible thing.

I disagree with you, Heavylove, when you say that it's the person who responded in a such disgusting and rude manner is the one who has to be fired. She/he is the victim ! Have you ever been harrassed ? Harrassement can destroy you, make you crazy, some people even end up by killing themselves. That is so unfair.

Since I am male I am more likely to be on the other side of the fence.. Embarassed But I know what you mean. First of all there is no excuse to sexual harrasment whatever the reason for it but neither is it any excuse for this kind of behavior either IMO. Its merely a way to resort into the same kind of behavior that the offender have and thus placing yourself on preatty much the same level as, in most cases, him.

Obviously this situation arouse from the management lack of seeing the warning signals plus maybe afraidness of talking with the person and persons in charge directly but taking such a situation up between four eyes (If not with the offender, at least with the persons in charge.) this always the best choice of action, no matter how inconvient it may look to the offended person.

And for me its also a matter of audience persepektive, do I want to see the show knowing that one or more of the actors has doing such things backstage? And from a writer, creator perspective, do I want to use any such person in the future? As its now basicly the entire unit of 30 actors/actress could be behind this while its actually one or two (I hope) thats behind it. Putting every person thats been part this off the show simply restore my trust into the rest of the team. Just my two cents.

Youd got me a bit wrong here: Ofc the male is the first to be removed since he is the one harrased her! And if he make anything illegal he should be charged for that! Wink And I do feel for the lady, or all the ladies in the team who have to take this sort of behaviour but I think the poor girl steped so far over the line that IMO she has to step aside to, in order to regain both the trust among the audience and the spirit to the rest of the team. If that could be worked around in another manner ofc I am happy with that but it would be a bit tough sitting in the theathre and thinking that one of the girls had done a thing like that, even if it was out of being harrased beyond her breaking point. I haven't seen a pooplocker like this since the great pooplockering of '96!

And I thought it had gone out of style.
Heavylove

Uh? Must have missed that one... Well I must say that pooping like this is a very creative way to show an anger towards someone and it make for a heck of an movie image if I need to have a person really pissed off at another. Shocked *Marks the image and puts it in a script* Laughing But if its a already known behaviour its probebly done in some movie already... Cool

Any more info on this? I havent heard a single bit in the news other than this one article and it make me a bit suspecious (the paper that wroted it is a bit like Sun, not well known for they background checking...) Wink

Suggestion

Considering the subject of this thread, I would suggest that everyone just let this die out. If what has occurred means anything, it will be taken care of internally. Airing it out here in the Forum will not do anyone any good since we do NOT have any evidence one way or another.

Please let it drop.
