Babes in ToylandMy school just performed Babes in Toyland which I believe is a tweaked version of the 1903 operetta. :p
From what I gather, Jane was arranged to be married to Tom and Mary was arranged to be married to Alan. Barnaby, an evil-doer, figures out that he'll get a fortune if he marries Mary, so he arranges for Jane and Alan to be lost at sea on their wedding day.
That doesn't work, so he tries for Gonzorgo and Rodriga to get them lost in the forest of no return. They get to Toyland through the forest of no return.
Barnaby drinks water from the laughing well and becomes good. The others get to Toyland, too, when trying to find Bo Peep's sheep. The evil is ended!
The songs are "Down at the Village Square", "Lemonade", "Slowly He Sank Into the Sea", "Little Bo Peep", "Before & After", "Floretta", "Just a Whisper Away", "And We Won't Be Happy 'Til We Get It", "I Can't Do This Sum", "The Forest of No Return", "Go To Sleep, Slumber Deep", "Mother Goose Explains it All", "The March of the Wooden Soldiers", "Toyland March", "Dance of the China Dolls", "Toyland", and "Hail to Toyland".
What I was wondering is more information about this play. I was barely able to find anything about it anywhere on the internet or in a library. What are all the songs in the play, and is there anywhere where I can get an album? There is very little information anywhere, and I would like to know a lot more about this play than I already do. Most other plays have hundreds of things about them including lyrics. If anyone has reference about this, I'd really appreciate it. Does anyone know the original song list or summary (I forget the word). Also, does anyone know about the version of the play that I just explained? Thanks in advance!
