Avenue Q QuestionJust wanted to get a few opinions on this: would it be feasible for a male to audition with a Gary Coleman song from AVENUE Q? Obviously, in both the Broadway and touring casts, GC is a woman's part, so that's why I'm a little iffy about it right now. However, I have a few friends who think it would be do-able; plus, the London GC is played by a male. I'm confident that most bass-baritones like me could pull it off, but again i wanted to get a few more opinions on it.

Nothing in particular for right now; I'm just planning ahead for my next one.

Songs from Avenue Q are generally very overdone.

I appreciate that, Jane, but aside from that, my original question was whether or not a male could get away with singing a Gary Coleman song.

yes, that could work easily. It's a male CHARACTER so would work to sing. If you can sing it, then do. My philosophy is that as long as it doesn't say something like 'I'm just a girl in love with a boy' then you can sing it
