Amanda Harrison was Kerry Ellis's understudy in the original cast of We Will Rock You, and every bit as good... Excellent bit of casting!

I'm really excited, sounds like really good casting.
What I'd still like to know is whether the rumours surrounding Adam Garcia playing Fieyro (sp?) are right. |

She was offered the role when the production was first announced, but didn't want to commit to it a year before the production started - that could limit her work choices in the interim. I think that she probably wants to do something else...
John Frost, the Australian producer, stated this morning that Fiyero, Boq and the Wizard are 'not yet cast' (I find that a little hard to believe, considering that the full cast announcemernt is expected Feb 12). |

That's still what 6/7 days away...thats A LONG time. Plenty of time. Directors can make their decisions whenever they choose. Even during rehearsal it's not unheard of for directors to re-cast Wicked is itself a prime example...Joel Grey wasn't in the San Francisco production for instance. And more recently Webber sacked the original Captain Von Trapp in the SOM revival in the west end only a week before it open...so in general i feel that it's more than feasible that they have yet to cast these roles, they may have people in consideration, but they have not announced them...therefore.. "not yet cast" is a fair statement to make. |

Austrlian Wicked's Cast!
It is offical!!! The australian Cast Are:
Elphaba - Amanda Harrison Fiyero - Rob Mills (Australian Idol Contestant) Boq - Anthony Callea (Australian Idol Winner) The Wizard - Rob Guest (Was the Phantom for 7 years. he's really good) Madam Moribble - Maggie Kirkpatrick Nessa - Un-Announced My firnd's siter auditioned, but had to pull out of the call backs as her sister (my firned) managed to (somehow, she wont tell anyone - I think she set the dog on her again) sprained her ankle and cracked a rib. Poor girl. I plan to attend the opening in green face paint (that is coveing me) and my NO Good Deed costume which I am making now. The only problem is that I am in europe the day it opens. We leave europe the day after Wicked premiers (their time) so i'm trying to con the people I am going with to let me cut it short! |

^ I thought Nessa had been cast *doesn't say name in case it's wrong or people aren't meant to know*
| Catherine |
Why does Rob Guest's name ring a bell?
Ahhhh, he was the Australian Valjean on the TAC when all the Valjeans sang DYHTPS! Christ, I'm a geek. He is good though. |
||||
| mastachen |
^And they remember Rob Guest as the Phantom? For shame!!
I hope George Hearn won't be remembered among Wicked fangirls as just some random guy who played the Wizard, either. |

Penny McNamee. Penny McNamee to play Nessa in Wicked Wednesday, February 6, 9:40pm AEDST. Sydney-sider Penny McNamee has been cast as Nessa in the forthcoming Australian production of Wicked, which opens at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne in July. She joins previously announced cast members Amanda Harrison and Lucy Durack in the show, which is attracting unprecedented interest. McNamee is expected to be confirmed as Nessa when additional cast members are officially announced next week at a special launch in Melbourne. Nessa is Elphaba (Amanda Harrison)'s sister in the musical, with her standout number being 'The Wicked Witch Of The East' in the second act. 24-year-old McNamee appeared in the lack lustre Witches Of Eastwick in 2003, and has made numerous guest appearances on television programs, including All Saints and White Collar Blue. AussieTheatre.com also understands that 2007 WAAPA graduates Liz Stiles, who is currently appearing in Hello Again at the Darlinghurst Theatre, and Suzie Mathers have been cast in the show's ensemble. http://www.aussietheatre.com/news.htm |

^ Good, that's who I was going to say too |

I wonder if they'll make a recording? They probably won't if they didn't bother to do other English speaking versions (Tour, LA, Chicago, London) or the Japanese one, although you can find For Good on the Tokyo website! How long do you think this show will go on for before it transfers to Sydney? I think it could stay in Melbourne for 3-6 years, but it will go to Sydney eventually!
| Elphaba Thorpp |
You See, Musicaltheatrefan, I have a few connections to the Wicked Production, and they are saying they, most likly, will not transefer to Sydney because of the coast to move the musical there. You see, the Victorian Goverment gives grants to shows that appear in melborne (to cover the cost of setting it up) while the NSW govverment dosn't. Due to the huge cost of putting Wicked on, and the assumed length of time running in melborne, trasfering to sydney would run at a loss as, due to the lengthof the melboourne run, would not have as many people walk through the doors and be less of a tourist attraction.
While this is not set in stone, I'm sorry but Wicked probably won't visit Sydney. *Dont kill me if i'm wrong tho, no ones sure about anything yet. It's all hitched ont he Melbourne Run.* |

^ Psst! It's Thropp, not Thorpp.
| Elphaba Thorpp |
Psst, being individual! Plus my emails Thorpp as Thropp is taken by my friend!
| Joshua |
Right. Changing the name of a book character because your friends e-mail is the correct spelling and you want the same e-mail is so original. |
||||
| Elphaba Thorpp |
Where I live, we ont care if that spelling correct. We only care about the thought and Idea.

Hehehehe. It's great to hear someone say that after years of me saying "Oh, I wish I could afford a ticket to London/America to see such and such " |
