[The Pirate King]

Today after school I have auditions for my high school's production of Damn Yankees. This will be my second musical with the school, the first being my debut as the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance.

We have to sing "Heart" and bring a comedic monologue. I've a really good Woody Allen monologue that I'm hoping will do well, and I have the song solid.

I dont' really know what part I want. Hardy, the Manager, and Applegate would all be cool roles, and I wouldn't mind being one of the three ball players either.

Good Luck, all three roles you mentioned are very good roles. Applegate is more of the comic role which would seem to fit you by your previous role.

Well, the audition went well, it seemed.

The director and vocal director (both of whom are like fathers to me) were mouthing things to each other when I was performing, which can't be a bad thing.

Callbacks are tomorrow. List goes up in the morning. I'll keep y'all updated.

...Gah.

Singing the ending to "Goodbye Old Girl" was just fine. Not outstanding, but solid.

But we had to sing "Near to You", and I started at the wrong part in the music. It started off the same way, I thought that was the part they meant, but I totally screwed it up. I tried to play it off, and I talked to them afterwards explaining what happened, but they said I sounded just fine and that everything was okay. At least they know what I'm capable of from previous work.

Yeah, we didn't do any Applegate stuff. Weird, huh?

I'm not expecting too much now, but since I know my best friend is one of the three main ballplayers (Heart), I'd be content with one of those.

Tomorrow after school is the cast list. We'll see.

YES!

This is great. After that disappointing callback, I was cast as VAN BUREN! The part that I had seriously been thinking about for months. I'm really hyped. I've already pulled out all of my old baseball books and everything.

And my girlfriend was cast as Meg--she's wonderful. She truly is.

Our Frederick was cast as Applegate.
Our Samuel as Hardy.
Our Sergeant as Boyd.
Our Ruth as Lola. (she either plays really old or really sexy)
