auditions, of course

Again, another thread about auditions :p

Hopefully, I'll be auditioning for the part of Lucy in a community theatre production of J&H, and have been thinking of songs to do. I'm comfortable singing as either a mezzo or alto, and am a pretty impressive belter (I was never allowed to use mics in high school :p). My range is from about a D or E below middle C, and about a C or D above the staff. I've been seriously considering doing "Bring on the Men", and felt that it'd be ok, since it wasn't in the show, but is still a song specifically for Lucy. Thanks for any and all input!

Are you sure you're not doing the version with "Bring on the Men?" I just did the show in August and it was in it, and "Good and Evil" and "No One Knows Who I Am" were cut. If you can't do a song from the show I'd take a look at "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from JCS. The characters are similar and the lyrics are a good fit for Lucy.

If you can sing a song from the show I'd go with either "Someone Like You" or "A New Life." We were asked to sing "Someone Like You" from the second verse to the end when I auditioned. "Bring on the Men" is a cabaret number (which is why it was cut and replaced with "Good and Evil" at the request of Linda Eder) and isn't the best way to show off your acting ability.
