Auditions for The King and I...HELP PLEASE!So, I am auditioning for a community theatre production of The King and I.
I would really like to know what roles I am eligible for. I haven't seen the show since I was very young. I looked up the roles on Stageagent and it gave the age range of Tuptim as 15 to 21, but that looked like the only part for a girl my age. Also, Tuptim MAY or may not be pre-cast.
I have heard something about dance roles with names in the Small House of Uncle Thomas ballet, like Eliza... would these be suitable for me?
Here is a description of me. I posted it first in the "What character would suit you?" thread.
Appearance
Age: 16 years old
Height: 5'1"
Body type: 90 pounds, very slender but not stick-like
Skin tone: Very fair, naturally
Hair: Bright red, halfway down my back (willing to cut it)
Eye color: Very dark brown
Voice
Part: Soprano 1 or Mezzo, occasional 1st Alto
Range: G3 to C6, comfortably... can stretch a few notes either way
Type: Ranges from classical style to belt
Dance
Types: Jazz, ballet
Training: Several years of jazz and ballet, 2 years of tap
Ability: Light to moderate, somewhat heavy- not very flexible
I no longer tap, but could pick it back up with training.
Acting
For previous roles, see my signature
I am very good at playing "dramatic" roles-- you know, crying, death, all that jazz But I am also good at playing the "ingenue" and the "brat".
So what do you all think? Any feedback is appreciated.

sounds like tuptim would be PERFECT for you. i hate it when roles are precast!! there are many roles in the ballet, usually double cast as wives (well, in my prioduction at least) including eliza. You could probably pull off a wife without much drama, but I think tuptim would be the best role to play, especially if you are good at dramatic roles (she gets beaten in her last scene - lots of fun!)
god luck, let me know how you go

You do sound like an amazing tuptim. but if it's precast then go with someone in the ballet, which are also pretty amazing parts (the ballet had the theatre in tears im my production) they are usually dancers all the way through the show if the production i was in was anything to go by.

My mom was talking to the director of the show, and she basically told her that I was too young for Tuptim, unless the girl she has precast (who is about 25!) doesn't show However, the first thing the director said was, "GREAT! She can dance in Uncle Tom's Cabin!"
From what I've seen, it seems like there are four parts in Small House of Uncle Thomas for me: Eliza, Little Topsy, Little Eva and the Angel. Am I right in assuming this? Are there any specifications on any of these parts (dance abilities, looks, etc.)? I can't find any information on them anywhere!

theres also king simon of legree and uncle thomas. although these are supposed to be male they can also be played by females. the dancing isnt strictly ballet. well it is but it's more like a choreographed story. as far as i know there are no spcifications as all the dancers have to wear identical make up anyway so it wouldn't really make a difference. a mask could also be worn, or as in the production i was in, a fake head was worn for uncle thomas as his hair was blue and he had to have a wacky face ( it was very different from the girls real appearance needless to say) .
the ones with the most stage time are probably eliza the angel and king simon. also the angel is nearly always george aswell.
