Audition Date…..

SUNDAY 4 DECEMBER (to be confirmed – together with venue, time).
We will be auditioning for all ensemble and principal roles.

Mayhem welcome new members to the group – so if you are interested in taking part rest assured you’ll be made most welcome. In addition, we are always keen to get help with the many and assorted jobs that need to take place behind the scenes in order for a successful production to be staged.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with South Pacific – it’s a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical set during the second World War which combines a love story with tragedy. It features some of composers most rousing and well-known songs including:

Dites Moi

A Cockeyed Optimist

Twin Soliloquies

Some Enchanted Evening

Bloody Mary

There Is Nothing Like a Dame

Bali Ha'i

I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair

A Wonderful Guy

Younger Than Springtime

Happy Talk

Honey Bun

You've Got To Be Carefully Taught

This Nearly Was Mine

Synopsis…

It's World War II and the US army has stationed a base on a South Pacific island. Soon, a young nurse, Nellie Forbush, falls in love with a middle-aged French plantation owner, Emile de Becque. The two have a troubled romance as Nellie slowly discovers the details of de Becque's past. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Cable arrives to head a mission to create a spy post on a Japanese-held island. Bloody Mary, the island souvenir dealer, sets Cable up with her daughter, Liat. After Cable refuses to marry the girl, Bloody Mary drags her away to find a new suitor. Soon, Cable must begin his dangerous mission. After considerable thought and pressure, de Becque agrees to be Cable's guide. In the end, Cable dies but de Becque survives and will live a life of happiness with Nellie.

There is plenty of scope for both female and male ensemble so the more on stage the better.

Please feel free to contact me on any aspect of the production – I look forward to seeing you from Thursday onwards.

Best Wishes

Very Happy
