Auditions for Rolf in about 14 days...Help!!!

Okay, so I have to figure out a song to sing for auditions...we must have 16 bars to sing...here are some songs ive been thinking of...some of them are over done, but hey...

Ill Know
Corner of the Sky
Hey There
A New Town Is a Blue Town
Now I Have Everything
My Time of Day
All Through The Night
Maria
If I Cant Love Her...

These are just ideas...If you have any suggestions, that would be great...btw, Im a Tenor, with a lighter voice, so when thinking of a song(s) keep that in Mind

Oh...um, also, any thoughts on how i should read for the role?

I would do another Rogers and Hammerstein song and definitely something from that "classic" musical theatre area. I like the idea of Hey There, you need to capture Rolf's "spirit" as well as show a legit ballad quality. If you were looking for a R&H piece I would check out:

People will say we're in love - Oklahoma

Younger than springtime - South Pacific for big, lush ballad or from the same show You've got to be carefully taught, which in a strange way sort of parallels with Rolf's character and the dilemna he goes through caring for the von Trapps but wanting to follow his orders.

I have dreamed - King and I, another lovely ballad

That's for me - State Fair (film version only) is also a grat up-tempo song portraying the fun and mischievious side of Rolf

No other love - Me and Juliet but maybe not rangy enough. Nice ballad though.

All at once you love her - Pipe Dream (another good ballad)

Also, people tend to answer song suggestions faster if you post them in the "Audition Song Thread" at the top of the page...

Welcome to the boards! Smile

If you can hit a G, do "Younger Than Springtime" from South Pacific.

Don't do "Now I Have Everything"--one of the most boring, pedestrian songs in all of musical theatre.
