Santa Ana, California: Santa Ana College Theatre Arts Department is inviting local students and members of the community to come audition for the musical CABARET based on the 1998 Broadway Revival. This is not the CABARET of movie fame but one where the world has gone to extremes, where the 3rd rate Kit Kat Klub and its pleasures presents an escape from reality, but under the thin veneer of glitz, lies, pure tackiness and impending doom. The revival is adult. Cliff is bi-sexual and has had an affair with Bobby, a Kit Kat Boy. Sally is not American, as in the 1966 film, but British. Cliff is the naïve American. The Emcee is an explosive and sexual being, and the Kit Kat Girls…well, let us just say that they are not your “typical” showgirls.
This is real, rough, and raw decadent prewar Berlin!

CASTING:
The role of Fraulein Schneider has been cast. All other roles are open.
Roles for 8 women (Sally Bowles, Fraulein Kost and six Kit Kat Girls)
and 9 men (Emcee, Cliff Bradshaw, Herr Schultz, Ernst Ludwig, Max and four Kit Kat Boys).
Also seeking 3 women that can play piano, saxaphone or drums for the Band!

WHAT TO PREPARE:
Please prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo and ballad. An accompanist will be provided.
Songs from CABARET are encouraged. Dress to dance.
If cast, enrollment in at least one unit is required for insurance purposes.

AUDITION DATES AND TIMES:
February 8 and 9, 2006 at 7:00pm.

PERFORMANCE DATES:
March 23 through April 2, 2006.

Phillips Hall Theatre and the adjacent parking lot is located on Bristol,
just south of 17th Street on the campus of Santa Ana College.

Good luck with the production. I can't believe rights are out for the revival version! Eh, I guess it's been about 8 years now, though.
