Auditions for Our Town! Help!!!!!!My Highschool is holding auditons for Our Town! I'm very excited! I dobn't know much about the show. I got the script today after school, and I'm reading it tonight. I'm a Freshman 14 yr old boy, so I dont know what parts are available. What would u guys recommend????? They made it pretty clear they want only stuf from Our Town! So, I'm excited, oir HS is limiting the cast to 48. Sooooo..... also there are two auditions: September 5th, from 6-8 after school, and than September 6th, from 2:45-5 after school, wat do u reccomend? please help me guys.........

I recommend you google "Our Town" and you will honestly learn everything you will need to know for a preliminary overview...
Go be a mad scientist and do your research! (Gosh I'm punchy today!-YAY LONG WEEKEND!!!! LOL!)

I did, lol thank you you were very helpful, I'm in the midst of reading the play. It's good so far. I just would realy like a part, any part really, I'd be so lucky if I was cast in it, I'd be so happy! I'm a Freshman, but one of the principlal haracters is called " Joe Crowell, and he is a 11 yr old boy, and im 14, so maybe they'll cast a Freshman as that part. IDK, just everyone keep their fingers crossed for me. ***

Well, I was reading over a short summary of the play; Joe Stoddard isn't a very main character, so I suggest singing a song maybe sung by another non-main character from another play. But then, I've only been in two musicals, so it's okay if you pass on my advice.

Correction, Joe Crowell. But still, I don't think I ever saw his name in the summary, so my advice still applies.

Our Town is a dramatic play, not a musical. Anyways, here is a list of all the male roles:
* Stage Manager (lead)
* Dr. Frank F. Gibbs (supporting)
* Howie Newsome
* George Gibbs (lead)
* Professor Willard
* Charles Webb (Supporting)
* Simon Stimson (Supporting)
* Joe Stoddard
* Wally Webb
* Joe Crowell
* Si Crowell
* Sam Craig
* Constable Warren
*The Baseball Players (I think there were three)
I did that from memory so there could be some missing. If you need a monolgue from Our Town, I would suggest one of the Stage Manager's because he's the only male character with any.

Yeh, but our director says she doesn't want memorization. I don't want the stage manager. I mean, that wil probably be given to a senior. I am interested in like Joe, or Si Crowell, they are both 11!

I'm not saying to "go for" the Stage Manager. It's just that if you need a monologue from the show, the Stage Manager is the only character besides Emily with monologues. You have no choice unless you do a scene. In that case, you should do one of George's scenes.

hmmmmm ok. It's hard to know what the director wants, since im new to this school. I just hope I get some role. *crossesfingers* It issuch a wonderfully written show, i finished it this afternoon. Really amazing.

I auditioned today! There were like two people going for Joe Crowell. We were both asked to read for his scenes twice. There were auditions also held the previous evening. I don't know whow many people went for Joe Crowell then. It went well though, *still crossing fingers!!!*

Lol. Ok, the cast list appeared todaay! I know you all've been like dying to know, sooooo I was casted as: Drumroll********* Baseball Player Number 3! Lol, yes I only have one line, but I'm excited. I just wanted to be cast in the production! So I'm happy, yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Lol. Thank you to all who wished me luck, I love u all!!!!!!!! xoxo
