Auditioning with an InjuryHello, hello!
On Monday, I'll be auditioning foy my high school's production of Beauty and the Beast. However, I've managed to rip a tendon in my foot (I had a graceful moment, and fell down some stairs)
My dilema is, I don't know whether or not to do the dance portion of the audition. My foot is in a walking boot, which I am able to take off, so I would be able to wear a jazz shoe. I can stand on my foot without the boot for about 25 minutes before it starts to be extremely painful.
This is my second high school audition, and I would really like to make a good impression. I don't think I did very good at the first one (the first show was a straight play, however, so the director doesn't know if i can sing or dance), as I didn't get cast. I'm worried about telling the director that I won't be able to do the dance audition, because I have a feeling that he won't cast me without seeing what I can do. I do, however, have 11 years of dance under my belt, which I did write on my audition form.
So, what do you think? Should I do the dance audition? Or tell the director that I've got an injury?
Thanks in advance!

i think that you should see a doctor and see what they think. if they think you shouldn't dance, then you should tell the director you have an injury.

I was at the doctor on Thursday (3 week check-up), and he said if I was careful, and didn't do leaps or anything on that one foot, that I could maybe do it. I'm just worried that if I do audition, my injury will effect my performance.

well, then i say go for it, do your best. but i think you should let whoever needs to know, know that you're injured because you shouldn't try to act like you aren't, because then you could get more hurt.

Inform the teacher, but offer to do the dance anyway.
Be careful though, you don't want ot end up with a bunch of scar tissue in your ankle, I know from personal experience that it sucks. (I ripped a bunch of tendons back in February then did a cheer competition 4 days laters, followed by 3 other competitions, and all of my Aladdin choreograhpy. Yeah, not a good idea my ankle is still messed up!)
But be really careful with that ankle, if not it will haunt you and you'll regret it.

It's actually not my ankle, it's the main tendon that runs through my actual foot.
So at least it's not my ankle, I think that would cause more of a problem for me!

tell the director about your injury. wear ankle supports and do what your gp says to do. you can stilll do the audition. when i sprained my ankle i was able to go abseiling off a bridge but that's just me...

Happened to me before to. Tell the director you have an injury, but do what you can. When you need to stop, stop, and then join back in when you can.
