Auditioning for Little Red (Possibly... Maybe.)

Why hello there, and welcome to...
Well, to my post.

(Sorry, I just finished Urinetown.)

And for next years musical, my school is doing Into the Woods, as you may have guessed.
Now, I am a bit unsure of what to do.
You see, for our auditions, we are specifically told which song to audition with, (general audition is Ever After, and main part is No-one is Alone).
I was thinking that instead of No-one is Alone I would audition with I Know Things Now. I cleared this by the production manager.

But, I don't know whether I should go for this part.
You see, I love this part very much, and believe I am capable of the part.
Here it has to be noted that I am not a great singer, or even a good one, but I definitely believe I am capable.
The problem is, from previous shows (such as Urinetown), it is clear that there are people who are suited to the role, and who are more talented in the singing department than I (well, of course, the two girls who played Little Sally- I matched her and Little Red as similar roles pretty quickly, was I wrong in doing this?).

Should I still audition for the part, even though I obviously know there are people who have better singing voices for the role? If I audition with this song, I'm not sure if it will detract from my chance of getting another role.

So I just want your opinion.
Thankyou,
Arrow Amelie.

Yes, Little Sally and Little Red are very similar roles... uhmmm, their names, for one thing Wink

Which part did you play in Urinetown? That might help us place you.

Also, if "No One is Alone" is the song they wanna' hear, I'd stick with it. It's a bit easier to sing, and would make for a broader audition. If you sing "I Know Things Now", they many only consider you for Little Red and no other part.
